- Serve as the Director of Communications/Public Affairs and as Special Assistant to the director of a major Military Medical Center.
- Expert advisor on Strategic Communications (SC) and Public Affairs (PA) initiatives on issues pertaining to media and community relations; communications; risk and crisis management; advocacy, outreach/ internal relations; plans and analysis.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the medical center, responds directly to media inquiries, advises senior leadership of areas of public/media interests, and recommends veterans proposed media responses before public release.
- Draft and review speeches, presentations, and videos for the medical center leadership for internal and external events.
- Liaison with international visitors, private groups, high-level officials of the DoD, flag officers, foreign embassies, international dignitaries, the Secretary of the Army, and other national and local representatives
- Direct and manage a staff of approximately 15 civilian administrative, public affairs and marketing personnel.
- Oversee the budget development and obligation of funds for the Office of Command Communications.
- Host regular meetings to engage team members and discuss communication/public affairs goals/mission, and current issues. Establish rapport with staff to focus on communication, objectives, motivation, cohesiveness, and trust and flexibility.
- Provide continuous feedback to employees regarding performance expectations and any noted deficiency and achievements.
