- Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
- Utilizes an extensive knowledge of related engineering technology for Orion Spacecraft assembly, test, and production to arrive at satisfactory solutions which affect other related projects and components.
- Utilizes various analysis methods in order to provide technical insight to the Orion Production Office, Engineering Director, and other stakeholder personnel related to flight vehicle component processing anomalies associated with Orion Spacecraft.
- Provides technical engineering insight/oversight for the mechanisms system during assembly, integration, testing, and production for Orion flight vehicles.
- Leads or performs work concerning the principles of mechanical motion, energy, force, and material properties to ensure mechanical devices, systems, equipment, and/or components function safely, reliably, efficiently, and economically.
- Conducts engineering reviews of Non-conformances, anomalies, and corrective actions and provides insights/recommendations that are used toward Certification of Flight Readiness of the Orion Spacecraft.
- Participates in program technical forums, failure review boards, engineering review boards, and works with system managers performing cross Orion integration system engineering.
- Resolves difficult problems generally unique or controversial in nature, requiring experienced professional aerospace engineering decisions and direct application of engineering judgment to achieve effective, timely results.
- Performs multiple functions which may include planning, research, metric data, design, development, test and evaluation, cost analyses, ground support interfaces, program, and project management.
