Job Description:
Medical Device Applications Technician
The Applications Technician will be a core member of the Machine Solutions customer service and sales support team. The role will be located at the MSI Flagstaff, AZ Office. The technician will learn how to operate Machine Solutions equipment and use this knowledge to run product samples, host customer training and perform quality inspections to ensure equipment meets operational specifications. This individual will play a vital role in ensuring our equipment will provide our customers with a solution for the development and manufacturing of medical devices. An ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys working with their hands and the challenge of finding unique solutions to meet our customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Lab-based duties include sample processing and contract testing, measuring and recording precise data and analyzing results
- Write and present reports that effectively communicate results from sample processing and contract testing, to customers with a range of technical and non-technical expertise. Write and present factory-acceptance testing documents and work instructions or visual standards.
- Hosting factory acceptance tests for completed machines, lab demo days, and customer visits.
- Provide support to Quality, Engineering, and assembly teams when available to do so.
- Collaborate with the Customer service team and provide support when necessary. Provide technical support to customers and close service cases accordingly.
- Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer needs and contribute to the development of new products and product line extensions. Communicate customer feedback to internal teams to help drive innovation and process improvements.
- Attending the appropriate department meetings to keep a grasp on company projects.
- Participates in company’s Continuous improvement activities.
- Responsible for tools and workstation issued to employees along with following all organizational safety requirements.
- Ad-hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:
4+ years’ technical experience or bachelor’s degree in engineering or related a related field.
Skills and Abilities
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Attention to detail and organization skills. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.
Using computers and performing mathematical calculations for the preparation of graphs and report generation.
Proficiency in Microsoft office suite.
Mechanical aptitude focused on intricate details.
Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
Familiarity with medical device industry regulations, standards, and best practices.
The ability to quickly adapt to innovative technologies, methodologies, or industry trends is important.
Experience working effectively in a team environment. This includes collaborating with cross-functional teams, mentorship, and providing technical leadership.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures. Ability to draft reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Demands
Much of the day will consist of sitting, and a considerable amount of time will be spent standing, walking, using hands to handle, or feel, reaching with arms and hands, talking and hearing. A lot of time will be spent lifting weights up to 10 lbs., some time will be spent lifting weights up to 25 lbs. and minimal time will be spent lifting weights up to 50 lbs.
The following vision requirements are needed:
Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up or down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point)
Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)
Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Some time is spent working near moving mechanical parts and minimal time is spent near fumes or vibration.
