Aston University’s Careers and Placements Team is seeking a highly motivated Employer Engagement Officer to support the delivery of Higher Level Skills Match (HLSM) Plus.
This role will support the delivery of the new HLSM Plus project, funded by the Birmingham Enterprise Zone via Birmingham City Council, which will help local companies secure the skills they need to sustain economic growth by recruiting and retaining more local graduates.
HLSM Plus will be delivered by Aston University and our partners at Birmingham City University, University College Birmingham and the University of Birmingham, with full endorsement from the Graduate Re-Tune programme and its delivery partners: Department for Work and Pensions’ (DWP) Birmingham and Solihull Jobcentre Plus District (JCP), and Prospects, the National Careers Service contractors for the West Midlands.
Working with a multi-institutional team, the Employer Engagement Officer will support businesses of all sizes, from micro businesses to large, global organisations, that are primarily based in the Birmingham Enterprise Zone. You will identify the skills they require to support business growth and source graduate level vacancies for the project’s caseload of unemployed graduates. You will work closely with the Graduate Employability Consultant to assist the matching of graduates to job vacancies, and support the tracking of job retention and progression through effective account management. The Employer Engagement Officer will be responsible for coordinating a proactive approach to supporting business growth through graduate employment.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have experience in business support, employer engagement or business development within a professional setting. You will have experience in recruitment, B2B relationship management and/or business development, networking and maintaining effective links with employers. You will also have a good understanding of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, and experience of actively ensuring that those with protected characteristics are treated equally and fairly.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join our fun, friendly, and hardworking Careers and Placements team at an exciting time. We play an important role in Aston’s recently launched 2030 strategy with plenty of opportunity for growth and innovation. Well known for being pioneers of placement programmes and currently runner up for University of the Year for Graduate Prospects (Sunday Times, 2023), our work centers around the delivery of outstanding graduate outcomes and equipping business and communities with the skills for the future. You will collaborate with like-minded colleagues, develop new skills, and be a part of a supportive work environment that values diversity and inclusivity.
