- Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
- Lead team using technical approaches, policies, effective communication, and teamwork to achieve objectives and maintain effective relationships. Adapt to changing needs and consider complex cross-organizational implications when resolving issues.
- Direct airworthiness assessment of vehicles, operations, or processes, evaluate in-house and contract proposals of flight systems, and provide engineering dispositions. Act as primary operations interface with test teams or external partners.
- Assess and implement civil, military, international, manufacturer and NASA standards and requirements to ensure airworthiness of flight vehicles and/or mission success to meet research goals.
- Develop effective operational plans for small, moderate, and complex projects including scope definition, requirements and verification, schedule, cost and resource estimation and allocation for all project phase activities.
- Determine system performance and interface requirements to meet technical and safety objectives. Prepare risk assessments, and verify mitigation implementation through inspection, test, analysis, etc., to develop recommendations and resolve issues.
- Prepare complex integration plans and procedures for air and ground vehicles and infrastructure. Acquire and/or confirm integration readiness of equipment to ensure product support documentation and configuration management.
- Lead development and management of concept of operations, test plan and test cards. Manage command and control activities according to mission objectives including real-time decision-making and problem resolution during mission critical operations.
- Report ground and/or flight research results, and develop and deliver technical results/briefs to internal and external stakeholders.
