Quality and Leadership Deliver professional leadership with sound interpersonal and communication skills to enable and empower staff to develop best practice in the delivery of high-quality patient care. Challenge existing practices, ensuring that progressive solutions, which consider models of best practice, are incorporated into clinical practice. Support ward/departmental leadership and their nursing teams by working alongside them to promote shared learning/education at the point of care To work collaboratively with specialist clinical teams, e.g., Tissue Viability Nurse (TVN), Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) to promote educational study days, ward-based teaching/education. To assist in the delivery of QI projects to improve patient outcomes and staff CPD To identify and contribute to shared learning and quality improvement opportunities from incidents, complaints and accreditation processes. To support the Lead Nurse for Quality in the delivery of the Trusts Quality plan. To support the development and implementation trust clinical accreditation and Quality Mark schemes, ensuring standards are maintained and staff are supported to make improvements by collaboration and engagement Support the lead Nurse and participate in the further development of the accreditation schemes in terms of spread across the organization and inclusion of oncology specific standards. Awareness and understanding of national and local policies. Foster and develop a culture within nursing that values continuing professional development and strives for excellence in the delivery of patient care. Support the Lead Nurse on the national quality board requirements for safe staffing, supporting the process of undertaking acuity monitoring, analyzing data, preparing evidence for bi-annual staffing reviews, and developing the board assurance report. Take advantage of both formal and informal settings to provide people with coaching and encouragement. Actively identify opportunities to influence trust nursing and quality agendas. Participate in the implementation and further development of clinical indicators/metrics and systems of reporting, action planning and sustainability. Use analytical and sound clinical judgement skills in relation to analyzing data which may sometimes be complex in nature. Collaborate on specific areas of work under the leadership of the Lead Nurse, as agreed with the Chief Nurse and Executive Director of Quality, including the planning and management of projects and the implementation of change across the Trust, ensuring professional relationships are maintained and cross divisional partnerships encouraged. In conjunction with the senior nursing team, contribute to the development and implementation of effective policies and practices which support the achievement of the quality objectives. To ensure that all professional standards and practice, including statutory regulations are adhered to. Contribute to communication networks, enabling effective partnership and promoting professional relationships within the organisation. Actively participate in organisational committees and operational groups. Support the development and delivery of an ongoing training programme to ensure staff are skilled in the application of quality improvement methodology. Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) Support the Lead Nurse on the overarching management of the non-medical prescribing service within the organisation. Assist the Lead Nurse by supporting NMP learners during training. Support in the management of the NMP database ensuring that appropriate data is accurately recorded. Assist the Lead Nurse in the organisation of NMP continuing professional development events in-line with the requirements set out in the NMP policy. Support the Lead Nurse in regular audit activity of NMP activity and compliance against national and local guidance. Education Support involvement in nursing audit, quality improvement initiatives and research activity in the Trust and the dissemination of good practice Personal Cooperate in the performance review by indicating own learning goals, support needs and setting personal development objectives with feedback from others. Ensure own professional knowledge is regularly updated and keep abreast of relevant developments, making effective use of learning opportunities and actively promoting the workplace as a learning environment. Undertake theoretical education/academic courses as necessary to maintain specialist knowledge base relating to cancer care, general management, and human resources issues. Actively seek mentorship/supervision/coaching to enable reflection and own personal development within the role.
