As a Supervisory National Bank Examiner (Examiner-in-Charge) you will:

• Identify policy issues and systemic risks and present those issues and recommended solutions to peers, Assistant Deputy Comptrollers (ADC), the Deputy Comptroller for Midsize & Trust Bank Supervision, and other OCC senior supervision officials.
• Assess emerging risks, new products or services. Develop and implement innovative supervisory approaches to address new issues for the assigned company.
• Work with other Midsize & Trust Bank examiners-in-charge (EICs) and the ADCs in overseeing the MTBS program, and to develop systems and programs that focus on achieving OCC's goals and priorities. Establish objectives and goals in support of the OCC strategic plan.
• Provide day-to-day supervision of the institution through a team of examiners and support and provide OCC policy and program direction to staff. Plan, organize, and control supervisory activities which include the supervision of assigned staff.
• As an OCC spokesperson with bank executives, officials of Federal and State banking agencies, and banking industry and legislative leaders, discuss matters of mutual concern, provide industry perspective, and promote cooperation on shared regulatory concerns.

Financial Institution Interns will be assigned to the Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection (DCP).  Interns will work directly on teams with experienced FDIC employees to evaluate FIDC-insured institutions' compliance with fair lending and consumer protection laws and regulations.  These teams are responsible for assessing financial institutions to determine whether they are maintaining effective controls and procedures, managing their institutions effectively, and complying with all applicable laws and regulations, including those relating to consumer protection, privacy, community reinvestment, and fair lending.

Under the direction and supervision of an Examiner or a higher grade team member, the incumbent will participate in and/or independently perform the following:

Assesses the adequacy and determines the strength of the Compliance Management System (senior management oversight; compliance program, including the elements of policies, monitoring, and training; and audit procedures) to ensure ongoing compliance as related to the particular regulation under review.  Conducts reviews and assessments of the following: 

• Examine initial disclosures, periodic statements, advertisements, and other information to evaluate procedures and reviews for compliance with applicable regulations.
• Examine closed-end non-real estate credit transactions for compliance with applicable regulations.
• Review the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act loan application register for accuracy and assesses the bank's overall reporting procedures.
• Review adverse action notices for compliance, and to gain a cursory exposure to applicable lending-related regulations.
• Examine a sample of residential, consumer, commercial and/or agricultural files to determine compliance with consumer laws and regulations.

Reviews applicable regulations and examination manual to become informed about the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).

Participates in discussing the overall examination process including evaluating the bank's Compliance Management System (senior management oversight; compliance program, including the elements of policies, monitoring, and training; and audit procedures).  Asks questions to gain clarification and understanding of examination policies and procedures.

• Observes the interactions between the FDIC and Bank personnel.
• Responds to questions from other examiners regarding his/her section of the Report of Examination.
• Reviews the CRA of an institution and participates in discussion for assigning its rating.
• Prepares a summary of each performance factor describing why rating was assigned.
• With the assistance of an experience examiner, participates in meetings as appropriate.
• After the meeting, asks questions and discusses exam findings with the examiner-in-charge or higher graded team member.

This position will support the compliance function and state filings. This opportunity is a hybrid schedule; working 2-3 days in our office and the other days remote.

Key Accountabilities:

• Preparation and submission of rate, rule, and form filings countrywide

• Review and analyse state statutes, regulations, and rating bureau bulletins to determine impact and ensure adherence to filing and regulatory requirement.

Experience:

• Rate, rule and form filing experience. WC Compliance subject matter expert preferred but not required.

• Knowledge and experience with SERFF.

• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, with the ability to learn proprietary systems.

• Provide strategic business leadership with Executive Supply Chain Management on initiatives and sequencing to create a company competitive advantage in sourcing, production, logistics, distribution, and procurement cost and sourcing

• Be one of the organizations strongest change catalysts and set that pace within your team of analysts

• Develop multi-year cost and capacity target and glide paths in line with revenue and profitability targets through production and sourcing strategies

• Develop cash targets, inventory goals and BOM targets that tie back to P&L model financial goas.

• Create predictable, sustainable and repeating finance processes. Drive continuous improvement in current processes

What you’ll be doing

You will join CIBC’s Financial Institutions Group to provide support to the team through client acquisition and relationship management as well as providing transactional support for client specific financing solutions. This role will prepare you for a rewarding career in Commercial Banking and strategic partner to leading Financial Institutions. You will be committed to delivering on flexible business solutions, dedicated business expertise and timely business advice to help clients realize their goals.

How you’ll succeed

• Business development support – Assist Relationship Managers, Commercial Banking in coordinating activities through the sales cycle and liaising with other units of CIBC as necessary. Assist with the execution of business development initiatives and contribute to the achievement of growth targets by identifying business opportunities and developing financing solutions to meet the needs of the client.

• Research & evaluation – Assist in evaluating business growth opportunities through comprehensive industry, client and prospect research. Prepare analyses in support of credit submissions including structuring and documentation.

• Client experience - Proactively assess your clients’ needs and propose solutions to meet those needs. Interact with assigned clients to facilitate prompt responses to questions, enquiries or issues in order to provide “best in class” service. Apply acquired industry/company knowledge to the development of client/prospect proposals for financial and strategic solutions to meet client needs.

• You have a degree/diploma in  Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
