Introduction
This role is to provide effective leadership to drive a systematic approach to risk identification, mitigation and safety management through engineering solutions, communicate and mentor other engineers on site-wide Safety policies and processes and compliance with all local environmental, health and safety laws.
Your Job
- Conduct the necessary risk assessments and workplace Safety and health training of other engineers and employees to enhance their safety and health knowledge and technical capability;
- Supervise and conduct the audits of departments, contractors, suppliers and waste vendors in conjunction with other functional partners and stakeholders and follow up corrective actions. Coordinate audits related to ISO14001/45001, Responsible Business Alliance, Regulatory and Customer requirements.
- Establish and maintain Safety specifications, standards and programs including but not limited to process safety, accident and injury prevention, Safety inspections, emergency preparedness programs, MHI/PSM, regulatory licenses and permits, compliance, targets and objectives.
- Recommend and implement engineering controls, operating procedures and other methods to eliminate or reduce hazards affecting Safety and health.
- Maintain EHS-related systems including chemical management, gas detection and calibration, permit-to-work, management of budget / contract / schedule / troubleshooting and personnel as required.
- Investigate and follow up on incidents and any Safety concerns and identify trends and analyses for preventing the recurrence.
- Maintain existing and creating new workplace Safety and health systems and communication to improve workplace Employee engagement within EHSS aspects.
- Ensure requirements of the applicable regulations e.g. Employment Act, Workplace Safety and Health Act, Regulations, Fire Safety Act, Radiation Safety Act, etc. are adhered to.
- Improve the execution of respective emergency preparedness plans and response teams’ training to address the likely types of emergencies that may occur at the site.
- Support site operations for the Safety and Emergency Response Department.
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
- Must work well within a team, support a growth mindset and be able to mentor junior colleagues in a healthy, productive way.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: A technology-related Bachelor’s degree / Bachelor of Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety.
- Years of Experience: a minimum of 7 years of related experience; or a Master’s degree in a technology field with a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
- Other Essential Attributes: – Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work well within a global matrix-team or environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP)
- Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO)
