Your new role
As an Engineering Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in our Purchasing team, driving procurement activities across the business. Your main responsibilities will include negotiating and placing orders for machined components and other direct and indirect products, ensuring that delivery and quality requirements are met by suppliers to meet project deadlines. You will support the implementation of new strategies, policies, and procedures, and become a key stakeholder in the supply chain management process.Key Duties:
* Source and procure materials, components, and services in line with project requirements.
* Negotiate contracts, prices, and terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
* Monitor and manage supplier performance to ensure timely delivery and quality standards.
* Collaborate with engineering and production teams to understand material requirements and specifications.
* Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
* Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
* Stay updated with market trends and new products to ensure competitive advantage.

What you'll need to succeed
* Proven purchasing experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
* Understanding of engineering drawings and basic manufacturing processes.
* Previous experience of dealing with procuring Machined Parts and dealing with Sub-Contract suppliers regarding plating and finishing of components.
* Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and internal departments.
* Highly proactive, enthusiastic, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong attention to detail, with an impeccable, thorough and accurate approach.
* Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure.
* Full clean driving licence.
Desirable:* Ideally, MCIPS qualified or working towards.

What you'll get to do as a Production Test Engineer - (Live Build) in Electronic/Electrical:

The role of a Production Test Engineer - Live Build (Electronic/Electrical) in the manufacturing department involves providing technical support for the manufacturing test of weapons systems in live build production test and diagnostics of complex weapons at the system and subsystem level. ​ This includes supporting the test engineering process during the design and development phases, ensuring the readiness of test facilities and equipment, and conducting testing and diagnosis of electrical/electronic weapon systems. ​ The engineer is responsible for identifying and implementing remedial and corrective actions to address production test failures and technical problems, as well as proposing improvements to test equipment and processes. ​ They also serve as a representative at Defect Review Board meetings to facilitate the resolution of equipment and quality issues. ​ The role requires a good understanding of electronics, measurement and test principles, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills. ​ Effective communication, planning, and organisation skills are also essential for prioritising and delivering tasks. Additionally, the engineer should have relevant qualifications and training in electronics, manual handling, ESD, and medical requirements/health surveillance. ​

What we're looking for:

• Formal technical engineering/craft apprenticeship (TR23/TR21) or HNC qualification.

• Significant experience in Mechanical Inspection - must be inspection of other people's work, self-certified work is not sufficient.
• Several years of experience as a skilled professional in the field.
• Preferably IPC 610 certified/trained.

Maintenance Engineer

Dunstable

Continental Shifts - 4 on 4 off Days & Nights

Up to £46,500

We are working with a market leading manufacturing company based in dunstable who hold a predominate market share within their field. Due to growth they are looking to add to their Maintenance Department.

The main roles and responsibilities will be working predominantley on PPMs with some breakdown maintenance thrown in however, it is predominantley PPM work.

You'll be working on production equipment from Converyors to packaging lines and all in between.

You'll be working in a team of engineers reporting into the Engineering Manager or shift lead depending on who is covering the shift.

As a business they are wanting employ cadidates who aspire to develop and progress themselves whether that's skillset development or leadership progression - this will be supported internally.
