Your new role

What you'll need to succeed

To register with Hays, you must be passionate and driven, with a strong desire to be a successful teacher. To register as a teacher, you must meet the below core criteria:

• A minimum of 2 months' teaching experience in the past 4 years (this can include university placements).
• You must have the right to work in the UK.
• You must have a PGCE, QTS or QTLS

If you don't have a PGCE, QTS, QTLS or recent teaching experience, you can register as a Teaching Assistant or cover supervisor, provided you have worked with children for 1 month in the past 4 years.

What skills and experience we're looking for

This position is to cover maternity leave and is a 1 year fixed term contract. Rhyddings, part of the LET Education Trust, are seeking an enthusiastic, committed, qualified Teacher of Geography to join our successful and expanding team and school.

We are looking for an excellent practitioner who is both creative and challenging in their teaching. They will be passionate and committed to ensuring pupils maximise their potential and achievement. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach across our whole 11-16 age and ability range and will be well supported by our experienced Subject Leads and wider Humanities team.

As a key member of the team you will be expected to have experience in teaching across both KS3 & KS4, including the delivery of the GSCE specification. We want a teacher who strives for excellence, builds fantastic relationships and maximises pupil progress.

This post is therefore for a suitably experienced teacher or new entrant to the profession and the Trust operates full salary portability on the Main Professional Scales (M1- UPS3).

The department has two teachers, suited together, but also benefits from a wider Humanities team of seven staff, again all suited together. We benefit from a larger network via the ELSA and LET Education Trust. We have access to excellent SLE Support from within the Trust.

We offer Geography as a discreet subject at KS3 and at KS4 it is popular with a good take up, where pupils follow the AQA GCSE Specification with 5 hours learning per fortnight.

We are keen to further promote Geography within our curriculum and ensure there is sustainable growth on the firm foundations already in place.

Pupils undertake fieldwork in the local community and beyond and we have an active Eco Council, overseen by the department.

This underpins our research approach to our appraisal system, which is based on a Personal Inquiry Question. School also has a CPD library, uses collaborative learning tools, as well as accessing external courses and training, including NPQ’s. Work across the Trust is also a feature of our commitment to developing our staff and providing the very best opportunities.

All members of our community have access and use Office 365 including collaborative learning tools such as MS Teams and OneNote through wireless and portable technologies.
