We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. The appointed candidate must be literate and numerate and have experience and understanding of working with primary aged children.

Main responsibilities:
● To work under the instruction/guidance of teaching/senior staff to undertake work/care/support programmes, to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom. Work may be carried out in the classroom or in an alternative room outside the main teaching area.
● To provide support for children on the Special Needs (including children with EHCPs), Gifted and Talented and/or EAL Register under the direction of a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area.
● To supervise and provide support for pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning and play activities.
● To attend to the pupils’ personal needs, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters and implement related personal programmes.
● To supervise and support groups of children as they work through specialist programmes.
● To supervise children in the playground and in classrooms, as required, encouraging purposeful play and social skills activities.
● To create and maintain a purposeful, organised and supportive learning environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils’ work in classrooms and public areas.
You will need:
● To have experience of working with children, within the age range 5-11, in a paid or voluntary capacity.
● Evidence of a relevant qualification, e.g. NVQ L3 (minimum).
● To be literate and educated to GCSE standard in English and Mathematics
● The ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, showing a good understanding and use of standard English.
● The ability to respond to the difficulties and needs of children, providing targeted support as directed by class teachers and other staff.
● The ability to build positive relationships with staff and parents and to communicate with them effectively, sensitively and with discretion, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
● To enjoy working and playing with children, be adaptable, possess endless patience, good listening skills, a calm manner and a sense of humour.
