The incumbent follows established Federal Aviation Administration engineering process and supervisory instructions for maintaining systems and facilities, completes basic and routine (but progressively more difficult) assignments under the supervision of a manager or more experienced engineer to identify and analyze problems or system malfunctions, and supports the development and implementation of solutions such as modifications and integrating new sites and technologies. Monitors performance and reliability of systems. Analyses performance results and assists other team members in recommending system adjustments or enhancements. Work requires availability for telephone contact and/or being called in to work outside of regularly scheduled work hours to assist in diagnosing and correcting system problems and/or failures. Work is reviewed frequently during assignments and at completion for all enhancements using statistical and empirical information. Uses prescribed guidelines to complete necessary user and technical documentation to support maintenance processes. • Participates in investigations involving dust explosions or other severe violations of health and noise standards that present some of the most serious, unusual, and hard-to-define problems to resolve. • Reviews, evaluates, and makes recommendations concerning the adequacy of ventilation plans and requests for variance or waiver from mandatory health standards submitted by mine operators for approval. • Serves as a MSHA spokesperson and authority on health issues for the District. Testifies at judicial hearings regarding notices of violations and orders of withdrawal issues during inspections or investigations.

The Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (SMSA) monitors and makes work assignments, evaluates performance, resolves daily workplace issues and maintains efficient workflow.

• Provide technical and administrative supervision; oversee daily operations of the unit, ensure that agency policies and priorities are being followed; develop performance standards; and evaluate work performance of subordinates.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This is a temporary promotion, not to exceed 120 days. Employees will receive the pay and benefits associated with the promoted grade until the end of their term of service. Duties Include (but are not limited to):

• Supervises all areas of food production and service including food preparation, nourishment, tray delivery and retrieval, making rounds on the patient wards, meeting ward personnel and taking corrective action for any problems that might arise on the floors pertaining to food service. Receives and inspect deliveries. Requisitions all supplies needed for the different areas in Food Service.
• Responsible for efficient overall sanitation throughout Nutrition and Food Service. Conducts menu conferences, completes schedules assignments, cold prep sheets, record temperatures and completes tray assembly area report. Monitors/assures that proper procedures are carried out in the Diet Communication Center.
• Prepares performance ratings/competencies for all employees under his or her direct supervision. Closely supervises work performance of employees under his/her supervision and discusses work performance and problems with them. Checks employees on and off duty. Monitors tardiness and attendance of employees under his/her supervision and provides guidance to the employees. Makes necessary adjustments in assignments to make sure work is completed.
