Pending contract bid award, our Serco Maritime team have an exciting new role for a Project Manager to join our team. The key purpose of this role is to be the PMO lead on the Ship Life Extension Plan management team, responsible for oversight and management of the upcoming Programmes (SLEPs) achieving customer approved programmatic solutions for the contract on time and budget.
Working with the Technical Manager, and sometimes interchangeably, you will ensure a consistently safe and effective programme of works is being managed and reported by our subcontract partners Shipyard facilities. This role will also ensure each SLEP activity has access to appropriate commercial, financial and programme management support throughout all stages of the contract, leading on contractual compliance and acceptance with the Customer and SLEP subcontractors with support from Serco Commercial and Legal & Contracts teams.
Main Accountabilities:
- To be the Project POC ensuring risks issues and opportunities are communicated, mitigated and acted upon in a timely and effective manner.
- To own the SLEP ‘Master Plan’ Including the Project Management Plan, Schedule and Risk Register.
- To Manage the Risk Issues Assumptions and Dependencies (RAID) Log.
- To Work with the Customer and Subcontractor Shipyards in delivering against a vessel delivery plan for each vessel taken under contract.
- To promote and foster good working relationships with all Customer, Shipyard and Internal stakeholders.
- Monitoring and control of expenditure against delegated budgets and timely reporting of anticipated variances.
- Encouraging LFE opportunities and service optimisation as the SLEP programme progresses; and managing the Continuous Improvement process.
- Providing guidance and feedback to Shipyard SMEs and customer overseeing officers when appropriate.
- Support the Technical Manager as required to provide assurance to the Customer and Maritime Services Director that all activities are undertaken in a safe environment and are fully compliant with MCA, Class, Health and Safety, ISM & ISPS codes and any other legal requirements that may be applicable to the Programme at all times.
- Exemplifying and promoting ethical behaviours and acting as an ambassador for Serco Maritime with all external personnel.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Recognised Project Management Qualification
- Degree level education in a relevant discipline
- Significant project management experience in a maritime environment
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Quality & Continuous Improvement practises.
- Financial and Commercial acumen in a maritime or highly regulated industry context
- Experience and competence with IT systems and office applications particularly word, excel, Sharepoint and preferably MS Project.
- Driving License essential
- Must be content with regular travel to Holyhead, Lymington and Portsmouth
- SC Security Cleared or ability to obtain the required clearance.
