Provide professional advice to the Organisation in respect of complaints and disciplinary procedures for Independent Medical Practitioners and Medical Employees. In conjunction with the Head of HR lead the Doctors annual appraisal process ensuring the appropriate development and quality assurance of the process. This will include ensuring all medical staff are appropriately revalidated and that the Organisation obtains evidence of this. The Medical Director is the lead for clinical governance in conjunction with the Clinical Director and Head of Nursing and has responsibility and accountability for all quality and clinical governance issues. This will include ensuring that effective systems are in place to maintain the highest standards of clinical governance and full compliance with the provisions of the Care Quality Commission essential standards to ensure patient safety. Develop, in conjunction with the Clinical Director, effective organisational arrangements that enables the Organisation to meet its strategic aims within a framework of strong, effective governance. In conjunction with the Head of Quality and Safety, ensure that appropriate systems, structures, performance management arrangements and training are in place to promote sound governance including awareness of clinical governance, learning from incidents and including input into customer service/complaints where relevant. Monitor clinical performance through an appropriate range of clinical indicators, implementation of recommendations from root cause analyses, serious untoward incidents/accidents and external reviews. Improve whole system clinical governance to ensure that effective clinical governance is in place across the whole patient journey. This includes the ongoing development of the Medical Consultative Committee and ensuring the agenda reflects all matters relating to clinical governance. In conjunction with the Head of Nursing, Clinical Director and Head of Quality & Safety develop an approach to clinical risk management fostering a culture of openness and transparency ensuring robust systems are in place to identify, assess and minimise the exposure of the company to clinical risk.
