Base Location: Glasgow, Perth, Reading or London with regular travel to the Netherlands.

Join Project Lely, a 2GW offshore wind farm located 62km off the coast of the Netherlands, developed by Noordzeker, a joint venture between SSE Renewables and APG.
As Finance Director, you will be at the forefront of delivering a multi billion € project, overseeing the financing and financial management of this major project. You'll lead financial reporting, maintaining robust financial controls, and ensure the project business case meets shareholder investment criteria. You'll deliver the financing plan, and achieve the economic measures outlined in the business case while providing strategic financial advice to the leadership team and shareholders. As a key team member, you will spend significant time in the Netherlands, especially during project milestones.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of clean energy and drive innovation in a high-profile, international project. The main responsibilities include:
- Undertaking a leadership role in guiding the projects strategic direction and team management, while ensuring that safety and environmental principles are prioritised. You'll advise on strategic planning, provide offering financial analysis and input during long-term planning sessions, and help develop a standard project finance performance framework aligned with business needs.
- Securing debt finance, leading the development of financing strategies, managing external advisors, and overseeing the delivery of finance documentation and due diligence reports. You'll also develop and improve the business case to support investment decisions and coordinate shareholder and advisor support during any equity divestment processes.
- Financial management and governance, including ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, managing debt facilities, and overseeing cash and liquidity. You'll handle the preparation of financial statements, manage year end reporting, and provide detailed project insights for external reporting.
- Leading the negotiation and finalisation of Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (CPPAs), ensuring the terms support the projects business case, financing, and risk minimisation.
- Engaging with and reporting to shareholders and lenders, providing regular updates and effective communication to all stakeholders. You'll offer comprehensive financial and business analysis to assist stakeholders in making informed decisions throughout the project's lifecycle, ensuring management information is centrally coordinated and analysed.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Degree (or equivalent) with a postgraduate accountancy qualification along with extensive experience in project financing and financial management of infrastructure projects and bank-financed projects, including direct experience with large offshore construction projects.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of project management systems and governance arrangements for large capital projects. Experience of managing several complex projects and processes at the same time, with expertise in project controls processes and systems.
- Ability to interpret and assimilate multiple data sources, including external market data, to produce meaningful insights, appropriate recommendations, and clear actions.
- Skilled in communicating financial performance to the wider project team, embedding financial understanding within the business. Ability to influence project delivery strategy and translate this into programs, opportunities, or activities that improve the business case or mitigate risk.
- Experience analysing and negotiating commercial terms within major construction, operations, and offtake contracts.
