This is a short-term opportunity to join an award-winning team working across the NHS and blue light services. The successful individual must be able to commence work by mid-December 2024.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and committed professional with excellent communication skills to help us improve relationships with underrepresented communities. The role will specifically help to increase feedback from diverse communities on their experience of using ambulance servicesas well as increasing our awareness and understanding of cultural issues and potential barriers.

We provide 24/7 urgent and emergency care for people across the North West as well as the NHS 111 service and patient transport. You will be joining a friendly and busy team atthe North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust, based at our Ladybridge headquarters in Bolton. We benefit from a hybrid working arrangement, working both in the office and at home. This is a band 7 role, working 37.5 hours a week, currently funded until 31stMarch 2025.



Working with the Head of Communications and Engagement and the Patient Engagement Team you will be responsible for co-ordinating our approach to our accessibility, equality, diversity and inclusion priorities and improving the experience of care and services for patients and service users.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The Role

Alongside other Service Managers, you’ll be managing and supporting the Home Support Reablement team to provide a boroughwide, short-term service that supports people to regain lost skills, and learn new skills; adapting to the challenges that living independently can present. You will work with the management team to help regain the “good” CQC rating; liaising with teams across Bolton Council and FT (NHS) to do so.

You will be office based, however you will need to travel across the borough depending on service need.

About You

With experience of working in a care, home support or reablement service, and excellent communication skills, you’ll support and manage a staff team of coordinators, resource planners and support workers. You’ll need well-developed networking skills to build relationships with other service managers, in order to improve service delivery. You’ll be computer literate and able to use a variety of applications across the service. You will hold a full driving licence, and access to a vehicle to use for work purposes. You will have a Level 3 Qualification in management, or equivalent.

Key Duties will include:

• Be the curriculum leader for PE and Health and Social Care, leading a committed team to securing great outcomes.
• play a central role in driving forward, promoting and supporting the creation, fostering and management of partnerships that maximise pupil and community engagement. This may initially be centred around sporting provision, but as you develop in your leadership and understanding of the community, we want you to widen this out to other areas.
• Take a lead on ensuring that where we have public events, such a parent’s evenings or school shows, we are maximising opportunities to engage and signpost our community with other opportunities available to them (both from school but also the wider community).
• Work alongside the AAHT for Personal Development, to ensure that the health education provision within PSHE is excellent and teachers are well trained to deliver this aspect.
• Working with the Deputy Headteacher: Pastoral, develop our work on wider community cohesion, ensuring that we are tracking impact of our initiatives so we can use our resources widely.
• provide a positive role model – always teaching good lessons and sharing practice amongst staff in our school.
• Be an active member of the school’s senior leadership team
