The Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland ICB are looking for an enthusiastic and pro-active individual to join the Contracts and Procurement team.

Following the establishment of the LLR Integrated Care Board, this is a critical time to join the Contracts and Procurement Team: to lead and shape the new organisation’s approach to contracting, and to accelerate system-based working and integration to improve outcomes for patients.

The team has a wide portfolio and covers acute, community, primary care and independent sector contracts. In addition, the team has the responsibility for leading procurements to secure appropriate providers utilising NHS Frameworks & other Provider Selection routes. The objective of the team is to work in a matrix, partnership way across the organisation and wider ICS system to facilitate the LLR Objectives of recovery, sustainability and transformation.

Main duties of the job:

The Senior Contract Officer will support and underpin transformation by:
• Actively participate in the implementation of new innovative contracting models to support the LLR System in the delivery of the changing strategic commissioning and transformational agenda

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Support Buyer position within the Support Buying team in the Procurement department. This post will be a full-time, permanent position.

We are looking for two enthusiastic, committed, and motivated individuals with passion and drive to join our Support Buying team. The key function of the role is to support the UHL staff with low value spend in day-to-day ordering of goods and services. This will be done by developing and delivering training to UHL staff on the right way to order goods and services and on the process of ensuring invoices and prices are accurate to ensure a timely payment to our supplier. The post holders will also act as key collaborators for UHL departments.

The successful candidates will need to have previous NHS procurement experience in a busy office environment with excellent administrative and organisational skills including the ability to prioritise workloads. Previous knowledge of purchase to pay systems, as well as excellent customer service and time management skills and experience of working on their own initiative are key requirements.

Setting up, priming and running cardiopulmonary bypass equipment for cardiac surgery procedures, according to the perfusion procedures and protocols and to play a full role in the routine cardiac surgery programme. Ensure quality control, calibration and maintenance of expensive and complex medical equipment, ensuring accurate and safe use during clinical procedures. Assess the patient for relevant medical history, pathology and diagnosis and make appropriate clinical decisions concerning the conduct of the procedure i.e. type of cannulation, size and type of equipment, type of priming solution. Administer fluids and drugs according to local policy and as necessitated by the clinical situation i.e. priming solutions, anticoagulants, inhalational anaesthetic agents, potassium, and cardioplegic solution. Be conversant with specialist techniques and perfusion procedures as required by individual patients such as left-heart bypass, cerebral perfusion, and vacuum assisted venous drainage, ventricular assist devices and blood conservation techniques. Assist surgical and cardiology staff in the insertion and management of intra-aortic balloon pumps as required by individual patients. Take a full role in departmental and individual projects, with a commitment to research based clinical practice. Contribute to evidence based clinical practice to maximise clinical effectiveness. The post-holder is required to participate in out of hours/on-call arrangements and to ensure continued co-operation, flexibility and reasonable cover during absence of colleagues and operational demands of the Directorate.
