• • Provides customer service, information and support of Community Recreation programs and activities.   • Conducts inventory, maintains inventory controls and maintains equipment for proper accountability of program equipment and resources.
  • Assists in administering traditional and non-traditional workshops, clinics and events in a variety of leisure and recreation skills subject areas, in tune with offerings popular in the local area, including but not limited to camping, cycling, sailing, backpacking, canoeing, snow skiing, hiking and water sports.
  • Provides recreation experiences related to leisure skill sets in the form of day and weekend trips.
  • Assists in day-to-day administration of multiple programs to which assigned. Tasks include submission of event after-action reports, patronage data collection and entering program data.

  • Performs administrative duties, all of which are accomplished through a variety of means, including computer software programs which track resource inventories, patron usage/comments, and program standards metrics.

• Serve as primary project site employee responsible for the review and application of administrative guidelines necessary for project operations.
• Interpret and apply established regulations, procedures, and policies relative to administrative actions in the functions of budget, property management, personnel reports, records management, and clerical support.

Your new role

Reporting to the Senior Local Democracy Officer you will be joining a small professional team at the centre of the Council providing support to elected members and the democratic process.

You will use your excellent written and oral communication skills to provide effective and proactive support to the team. The work is varied, but at its core is providing administrative support to Democratic Services and to lead on the administration around schools' admissions appeal hearings.

Other duties will include undertaking research as required for scrutiny reviews and publishing agendas, supporting and minuting joint working and advisory bodies of the council, specifically the Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE) and the Twinning Advisory Group.

What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a Student Engagement Worker (Teaching Assistant) - Maternity Cover to work within our Inclusion Centre,The Bridge, at The Portsmouth Academy.You will be joining a dedicated and supportive team who strive to make a difference in the outcomes for our students with Educational Health and Care Plans.

The Bridge at The Portsmouth Academy is a specialist centre for children with complex Cognition and Learning difficulties aged between eleven and sixteen, who have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Our curriculum centres on each child as an individual, looking at their starting points and next steps.

The Student Engagement Worker plays a vital role by enabling students to access learning by supervising and assisting them (one to one and in small groups) across a wide range of activities and supported learning.

Working hours: 8am to 3.30pm or 8.30am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday

• Previous experience of working with young people to support their physical and mental wellbeing
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Educated to a minimum requirement of Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
• You will have high levels of motivation, energy and commitment with a reflective approach to the role and the ability to work to build positive relationships with students and their parents/carers

The role

Our Kitchen Assistants focus on supporting kitchen team in creating in creating positively memorable dining experiences for our guests. This role reports directly to the Kitchen Manager and is part of a team based from our attractive hotel in Hoilday Inn Portsmouth.

Kitchen Assistant duties include:

• Dishwashing: All dishes ranging from pots and pans to cutlery are either hand washed or loaded into the dishwasher
• Delivery Organisation: As a Kitchen Porter you will be responsible for receiving deliveries and ensuring they are organised once in the kitchen
• Storage Management: Storage must be organised so that all ingredients are easily accessible
• Waste Removal: All waste bins are emptied, ensuring all waste is disposed of promptly
• Basic Food Preparation: When the kitchen is extremely busy, kitchen staff may ask you to support with basic food prep
• Material collection: If your Chefs need materials or ingredients, you will support by collecting them

What skills and experience we're looking for

We require an enthusiastic and hardworking individual to work as part of the Premises Team on a permanent basis, to ensure that the school environment is safe and clean for all its users and maintained to a high standard.

Duties to include:

• Unlock / lock the school each day undertaking security and safety checks and locking.
• Keep records relating to maintenance and security.
• Perform duties in line with health and safety and COSHH regulations, taking action where hazards are identified and reporting serious hazards to line manager immediately.
• Undertake general portage duties including moving furniture and equipment within the school as required.
• Undertake minor repairs and maintenance of the buildings and site.
• Operate heating and alarm systems.
• Keep the school premises clean and in good order, with additional cleaning as required.
• Take monthly water temperatures re legionella prevention.
• Keep the school grounds in good order.

As key holder you may be contacted to provide access to the school in the event of an emergency.

You will be responsible for maintenance, operation of fire systems and provide key holder responsibilities. Security and facilities management services on the school's site and premises. Responsible for ensuring a clean and hygienic school, general maintenance, painting, ensuring tidiness of the school grounds, general DIY. Carrying out Health and Safety inspections and Risk Assessments and any general repairs.

Health and Safety:

• Ensure that all duties undertaken are carried out in accordance with Health & Safety Legislation, requirements and best practice.

• Escort, assist, monitor and work with (as required) contractors working for the schools.
• The operation of the heating plant on a daily basis so that the required temperatures are maintained in the school premises and an adequate supply of hot water is available.
• All areas of the schools are free from litter.
• All litter bins outside the school buildings are emptied frequently.
• Paths and driveways, car parks and play areas to be swept and kept clean and tidy.
• Undertake all other duties as required by the Building and Community Manager or other senior member of staff.

Skills & Knowledge:

• Knowledge of site maintenance and good practices in building services (heating, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical and electrical awareness).
• Ability to plan and prioritise duties.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to acquire further appropriate training and skills.
• Ability to communicate at all levels.
• Be computer literate and have a good understanding of MS Office software.
• Full UK Driving Licence – Be able to drive school minibus – training provided
