You will be a valuable member of the team working with the class teacher to support the children. You will also be part of the lunchtime team for ½ hour each day.

The successful applicant will need enthusiasm, patience, caring and understanding. Also fluent in standard English.

Experience working with children and a willingness to work in all year groups of the Federation is required.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Medical Directorate in the East of England and we are seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual with excellent organisational skills to provide a high standard of PA support to the Medical Directors.


The post holder will, in many instances, be the first line of contact for the Medical Directors and will need to act with discretion and confidentiality at all times. · Provide effective diary management for the director using independent judgement to prioritise the high-level competing demands to ensure an appropriate balance.

· Organise and manage documentation for meetings, including preparation of agendas and minutes of meetings, tracking actions and timeframes as appropriate, ensuring the director has the required documentation for all meetings in a timely manner.

· Organise and produce reports, papers, presentations and other similar documentation in accordance with organisational timeframes.

· Act as a contact point for the director, dealing with and responding effectively to queries from internal and external stakeholders, passing on relevant information as appropriate.

· Handle significant quantities of confidential and sensitive information on behalf of the director, always ensuring the appropriate degree of confidentially and discretion is adopted.

· Understand and highlight risks, issues and actions, ensuring early identification and proactive mitigation where possible, and ensuring concerns are escalated promptly.

· Flexible approach to work in line with the needs of the business.

Special feature of the job The service provides care 7 days a week across Cambridgeshire and clinical staff are rostered to provide this coverage. Whilst the rosters are created 5- 8 weeks in advance, there may be exceptional circumstances in which the job holder will need to be flexible to change a scheduled rota at short notice in times of clinical staffing crisis. Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for full details of responsibilities The post holder will work collaboratively with all disciplines as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assure a high standard of care for patient/clients and their relatives/carers, under supervision of an Occupational Therapist. To implement and evaluate delegated Occupational Therapy intervention programmes, including supporting patients with meal preparation. All modifications to treatment plans/interventions will involve the service user and where appropriate the carer. To work with the Occupational Therapist and ward team. Caseload to work with service users on ward S3. To assist the multi-disciplinary team, in offering a comprehensive treatment programme, and ensure that this is updated to meet the needs of the clients. Working under the regular supervision of a Senior Occupational Therapist, the Technical Instructor utilises their technical skills, the OT assistant uses their experience and training, and the skills of the Occupational Therapist to provide appropriate treatment to both individual clients and groups. To utilise knowledge and experience of the Occupational Therapy Assessment process within the content of the specific area of work. In conjunction with the Occupational Therapist to undertake Occupational Therapy assessments to identify needs, leading to formulation and implementation of individual treatment programmes and evaluation.

About our School

Selwyn Hall School is a new SEN school in Foxton, South West of Cambridge, which provides specialist education for 7-18 year olds with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Our pupils may have a number of diagnoses including: ASD, ADHD, FASD, anxiety and/or, communication and interaction, cognition, and learning needs. Our small bespoke groupings of 4-6 children ensure that every pupil receives the individual attention they need to succeed.

The school is situated within large private grounds to create a therapeutic environment that enables us to focus on the health and wellbeing of the pupils. We have space for a range of outdoor learning experiences including forest school, a multi-use sports pitch, sensory trail, conservation area and play equipment. Inside, the building has been completely refurbished and offers a range of classrooms and activity rooms including science, computing, music, drama and Art/DT.

Role responsibilities

* Dedicated to mentoring and supporting one pupil or else a small group of no more than six pupils
* Supporting the Classroom Teacher during lessons
* Reporting on pupils' progress and concerns, and liaising with other School staff to ensure pupils needs are met
* Supervision of pupils during non-classroom time including extra-curricular activities and school trips
* Assisting with lesson planning and classroom preparation
* Setting work where appropriate, and marking
* Building positive relationships with your pupil/s and driving interaction and positive learning outcomes

Requirements

* Have a strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills.
* Previous experience in a similar role ie, Teaching Assistant
* Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an Educational setting
* Be experienced and confident enough to take additional responsibility in an area of school ie, Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, School Yoga etc..
* Experience of behaviour management and techniques
* Committed to professional development and willing to learn
* Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.
