We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, and reliable Assistant Psychologist to join the newly established Clinical Psychology post within the Bournemouth and Poole Early Supported Discharge Service (ESD) for people with stroke and neurological conditions.

The Stroke and Neuro ESD Service provides specialist programmes for individuals, and their families. These individuals have experienced an acquired brain injury (predominantly stroke) or other complex neurological illness, and have just been discharged from hospital.

The successful candidate will be part of and work closely with a multi-disciplinary team (MDT). The clinical roles include offering psychometric and other assessments, implementing therapeutic interventions and support. They will support the service with clinical improvement projects, research, and clinical audits.

The post holder will be fully supported by a qualified clinical psychologist, the team lead and members of the MDT.

The Stroke and Neuro ESD team provides specialist, intensive and personalised rehabilitation, which is based on a persons individual goals, and is tailored to meet individual need. As part of this team, you will support the provision of specialist neuropsychological programmes including personalised assessments, therapeutic rehabilitation, advice, and signposting. The service operates predominantly in the person’s community setting.

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Therapy Practitioner to work within the Acute Therapy Team at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

The post holder will join our fantastic team who are part of a multi-disciplinary teams working with patients who have a range of medical and surgical conditions. The post holder will rotate across our acute therapy team through critical care, medicine and surgery. These posts are clinical posts, where the post holders will engage in completing assessments and treatment of patients.

The key responsibilities would require you to have confidence completing therapy assessments on an individual basis as well as organising and running groups where required. You would also be a key player in ensuring the ward promotes an enabling environment where patients are supported to be as independent as possible in daily routines, support qualified staff with research activities, and activities throughout the day within the ward environment. You will have responsibility to provide support and guidance other therapy assistant staff and as such the post holder needs to be well-organised and confident at working within a team including in a leadership role.

Previous experience of working with older people, in an acute hospital or community setting is essential. The post will include 7 day working and therefore the post holder will be expected to participate in weekend rotas. You will be required to achieve a certain competency level which we will give you support and training to help you achieve. We have a structured in house training programme and a supportive team of clinical staff.

You should be a car driver with full driving license.The role may include assessing patients in their home environment, with support as required from the qualified clinicians.
