More detail about the role An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and well-motivated candidate to join our friendly Mortuary Services team as a trainee Anatomical Pathology Technician. Applications are welcome from compassionate, conscientious individuals with good administration, communication and technical skills. Based at the Royal Devon and Exeter (Wonford) site, the role is diverse and the post-holder will be responsible for providing support and practical advice to the bereaved, assisting with post mortem examinations, reconstruction of the deceased and supporting the corneal retrieval scheme by performing enucleations. Other duties include being involved in a full range of Mortuary and Bereavement service roles such as admitting and releasing of patients to funeral services, administrative duties and maintaining the cleanliness of the department. The right candidate will strive to deliver the highest level of service to the bereaved and associated service users. The role at times can be emotionally and mentally demanding. It requires meticulous attention to detail, high-levels of concentration, moderate physical strength and a positive attitude. Due to the nature of the work successful applicants will be required to undertake a Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure Check/Enhanced Disclosure Check. No previous experience is required as full training will be provided, however previous related work experience would be advantageous. Participation in the departments on call rota is a requirement of the role, and a full-driving licence is required. Candidates shortlisted for interview will be required to visit the department for an informal tour, practical assessment and to meet the team. The successful candidate will be enrolled onto the Level 3 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology after 1 year of employment subject to competency review. Your primary role will be in providing in depth assessment, diagnostic and management advice to patients presenting with hip/knee problems. We are looking for 3 committed and enthusiastic individuals to join us as Trainee Clinical Coders to collect, collate, analyse, and translate complex medical patient care records into diagnostic and procedural codes. Due to the implementation of the Trusts full Electronic Patient Record, Epic, we are now able to support agile/hybrid working with most of the Team having the opportunity to work remotely. There is a dedicated Coding office available at both our Eastern and Northern sites should you prefer office working and for trainee coders you will be required to work from the office whilst you undertake training but there will be opportunities to work from home during this period. The Clinical Coding Team is responsible for the extraction and translation of Inpatient Clinical information using the ICD-10 and OPCS Coding Classifications. This information is essential for the effective management of the Trust and crucial to the National Tariff Payment System that underpins Trust income. Coded data is also important for clinical audit, governance and research. The role requires you to be methodical, have excellent analytical skills and be able to demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail during prolonged periods of concentration. Having good verbal and written communication skills will help you when engaging with clinical staff to improve coding quality.
