An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and creative Tutor, to join our Supported Internship programme. The role is full time (37.5 hours per week) in the Kingston area. You will have the opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team as well as help young people with a learning disability, learning difficulty and / or autism access the world of work.
As a Tutor on Mencap's Internship programme you will teach English and Maths by embedding it into lessons about employability. You will also teach further life skills that will have a direct impact on the way your learners interact with their wider community.

Mencap's Internships combines education and work experience to prepare our learners for employment. As a Tutor you will focus on the delivery of the educational element of Supported Internships programmes. You will work closely with team members to provide holistic support in finding paid employment.
As a Tutor you will deliver elements of teaching, learning and assessment to learners including accredited functional skills in both English and Mathematics.

Do you have the key skills and requirements for a Tutor? (essential):

- Experience of supporting people
- Experience of delivering against targets
- Experience of working with a diverse group of learners
- A-C/9-4 English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
- Recognised teaching qualification at level 5 (DTLLS, PGCE, CertEd)
- Knowledge and experience of delivering and assessing functional skills English and maths up to level 2
- Experience & knowledge of safe working practices
- Good classroom management skills and strategies
- Good time management and planning skills
All candidates offered an interview for this role will need to provide evidence of their GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent). You will also be asked for proof of your teaching qualification.
