We are seeking to appoint an excellent classroom practitioner to teach across the whole ability and age range in this large popular oversubscribed academy. The successful candidate will have proven success in delivering all three Sciences throughout KS3 and KS4. They will also be able to demonstrate positive outcomes for all groups of pupils and have the ability to engage and enthuse learners. This is an exciting opportunity for an ECT to establish themselves as a teacher or an experienced teacher looking to further their practice.

Clinical To co-ordinate the care and support of their own case load of clinical trial participants To attend multidisciplinary team meetings and act as a resource to members of the MDT Undertake extended roles in relation to the demands of the individual studies. The successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range activities including all aspects of REF (Research Excellence Framework) including providing advice, leadership, coordination, compliance, quality and submission. This post will also hold responsibility for providing research strategy insights, in addition to contributing the LSTM funder engagement strategy.

Strategy Development




Working with the Head of the Research Strategy & Knowledge Exchange to provide leadership, guidance, and direction to the research strategy, fostering a collaborative and innovative approach.

Manage the relevant delivery priorities of the broader Office for Research Strategy and Knowledge Exchange team to sector-leading standards, ensuring a high quality, focussed and fully compliant service is provided.





Research Excellence Framework (REF)

Adopt the role of LSTM’s trusted REF (Research Excellence Framework) advisor, providing professional management of REF submissions and all subsequent exercises, including supporting the leadership team with the development and implementation of REF strategies.
Analyse, interpret and adopt external guidance and policy, highlighting potential risk and exposure of the organisation and developing appropriate mitigations.




Research Environment & Strategy

Lead regular dialogue and liaison with department heads, global hubs, faculty members and international partners to understand the research needs of the academic community
Develop and implement effective research horizon scanning, intelligence gathering and a strategic funder engagement approach.




External Engagement:

Support the Head of Research Strategy & Knowledge Exchange and senior academics to represent LSTM at relevant national and international forums related to research and knowledge exchange excellence, sharing best practices, and establishing collaborative networks.
Contribute and quality assure information/data returns for relevant Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), including developing local processes to gather appropriate information.



The successful candidate will bring:

Applications are invited for a graduate research assistant position on a mixed-methods research project focused on suicide prevention in Cumberland. Cumberland Council are embarking on the preparation of a new suicide prevention strategic plan. However, before they begin, they are seeking to understand the lived experience and causality that sits behind the loss of life to suicide in Cumberland, in order to give them the best chance of identifying the interventions that could make a difference.

This project will use a layered approach to understand why suicide rates are so much higher in Cumberland than elsewhere in England. The study, conducted by LJMU and commissioned by Cumberland Council, will aim to explore residents' and communities' exposure to suicide and if and how it has affected their lives. For those who have considered suicide or have been bereaved by suicide, the study will seek to understand the contributing factors and what could/would have helped those individuals to make different choices.

Work will involve conducting interviews and focus groups in Cumberland, administering online surveys, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and writing reports of the findings. You will be based in the School of Psychology, with mentoring and supervision provided by Dr Ashworth and Dr Saini.

You should hold a BSc in Psychology or a related field. You will be used to working independently and have excellent organisation skills. Previous experience in conducting research and collecting and analysing quantitative and qualitative data (using SPSS and NVivo), within and beyond undergraduate qualifications, will be an advantage. Experience conducting research in the field of suicide prevention will also be advantageous. Excellent computer and communication skills are essential. The successful applicant will need to be able to conduct data collection in Cumberland periodically (expenses will be covered).

The Department of Vector Biology at LSTM is one of the largest of its kind with a broad portfolio of research and technical assistance activities targeted at improving the control of insect borne diseases. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Research Technician to join this dynamic research team.

The successful candidate will provide molecular biology, and insectary support to research projects performing functional genetics in mosquitoes, particularly towards the study of insecticide resistance. Your role will involve supporting researchers in the group by using molecular biology, CRISPR genome editing and general genetic manipulation techniques to characterise and manipulate the mosquito genome.

Prepare and maintain adequate laboratory records of methods, sample details and results

To disseminate information to colleagues in respect of the research studies taking place within the clinical areas. Liaison with research sponsors and multi-disciplinary research teams. To give advice on the organisation and management of the research in progress. To identify and screen eligible patients for participation in the research studies. The Trust is looking to recruit a full time clinical research practitioner / research nurse. The aim of this post is to allow opportunity for a high calibre individual to develop their skills in the field of research and to become a strong autonomous research practitioner.

The post holder will be responsible for assisting the Trust with its commitment to a sustained and dramatic increase in recruitment of patients into research studies. The individual will also be responsible for assisting with feasibility and set up of new research studies.

The Trust has a diverse and growing portfolio of research studies that its research practitioners are recruiting to, some of which overlap with other specialities within the organisation.



To support the operational management of portfolio research studies.

To contribute to all aspects of the planning, conduct and reporting of portfolio research studies.

To be responsible for the day-to-day management of and patient recruitment to designated portfolio research studies.

To work on a daily basis with minimum supervision as part of the research team.

To ensure that all clinical research activity is ICH GCP compliant and conducted in accordance with the agreed protocols.

To maintain a high standard of patient care in line with Trust and R&D procedures and protocols and in accordance with the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research.

To prioritise research activity as necessary thus ensuring recruitment targets are met.

To ensure that all data is collected and managed effectively and accurately.
