We have an exciting opportunity due to the retirement of the current post holder, for a motivated individual to join our Pathology Quality Team at Addenbrookes Hospital.
You will be primarily responsible for supporting the management team in the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service across the Blood Science laboratories, incorporating automated Biochemistry and Haematology including Haemoglobinopathy and the associated specialist laboratories of Endocrinology and Trisomy, Haemostasis, Biochemical Genetics Unit including Newborn Blood Spot screening and supporting accreditation activities in Immunology and Blood Transfusion.
Other duties include the maintenance and development of the quality management system, taking an active role in the transition of services to the single quality management system (QMS). Leading on service improvements within Blood Sciences and supporting the standardisation of quality across the directorate.
We are looking for someone with extensive knowledge and experience of the accreditation and regulatory requirements of a pathology service which includes ISO 15189, screening programmes and the patient safety framework. You will therefore have a working knowledge of laboratories and the application of the various accreditation/regulatory standards within their functions. You must have practical skills in auditing, risk identification/mitigation, root cause and trend analysis, with the ability to produce detailed reports.
As an autonomous practitioner with highly specialist skills you will manage and lead the Blood Science departments in all quality related aspects of the service.
Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the quality management system to enable compliance to all related regulatory, professional and accreditation requirements.
Responsible for implementing a clearly defined integrated approach to quality and safety which embraces the developments of new technologies and evidenced based care.
Be actively involved in the strategic review of the service as appropriate.
Manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the local quality team.
Lead on service improvements and the standardisation of quality across the directorate.
