OPPORTUNITY
We’re looking to welcome a new team member within our Production team into the role of PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN. You’ll work as part of our highly skilled, friendly and customer focussed Production team to assemble and test our filters which protect and connect people around the world. This is a shift-based role working earlies and lates on alternate weeks.

You’ll do this by completing responsibilities to:
 Assemble, inspect, precision parts to build filters. To do this using specification
sheets, production and engineering drawings and following work instructions to
complete assigned tasks for each filter process within required timeframes.
 Making precision adjustments and modifications using microscopes, scalpels
and other small hand tools to manipulate tuning screens, filing, grinding,
deburring and cutting, to meet amplitude and frequency ranges.
 Recording and taking data from analysers and other equipment to enable test
equipment to be calibrated.
 Fault finding, highlighting and where able resolving product issues and errors
ensuring quality standards are maintained.

To be successful, you are or ideally have the following skills:
 Confident and organised and wanting to learn our processes, how they work
and what you’ll need to do to achieve the right standard.
 Patient and methodical in putting things together and when necessary,
tinkering/adjusting them to get the right result.
 Someone who enjoys problem solving, finding faults and suggesting solutions.
 Experience of working in an engineering or manufacturing environment,

We are looking for an enthusiastic Catering Operative to work predominantly in the Production Kitchen, but who must also be willing to work as part of the wider team to provide services to our patients.

The main function of this post is to undertake general duties, including the preparation, transportation and distribution of food for patients, staff and visitors in a clean food safe environment.
• Ensure that the food is of the correct quality, quantity, temperature and date.
• The preparation, packaging and labelling of food items for the relevant food service areas.
• Perform an effective and courteous food service for patients, staff and visitors, following temperature and portion control protocols.
• To replenish food storage areas and food display counters to ensure continuity of supply.
• Ensure condiments are available to complement dishes on the menu.
• Required to communicate with colleagues, patients and visitors on food and drink requirements for dietary, allergy, ethical and cultural requirements.
• Check and monitor food temperatures according to departmental procedures. This may include deliveries, fridges, freezers, hot and chilled display units.
• Transport food in a safe and efficient manner to the relevant food service locations prior to service.
• The cleaning of kitchen equipment following departmental cleaning schedules.
• The cleaning of associated catering areas with the aid of commercial equipment (eg floor scrubbers, steam cleaners and wet suction machines).
• The washing of pans, utensils and light equipment using commercial pan washers or dish washers.
• To wash and sanitise all crockery and cutlery in food service areas, and replenish service areas when necessary.
• To work on the cash register, handling monies and be accountable for following SOP’s for cash handling.

The post holder may be required to undertake additional duties as appropriate.

Summary (Scope of the Job)

Operates stacker controls to ensure stacks are aligned and orderly.  Prepares stacked units for banding, operates palletizing machinery and ensures quality of product.  Performs all duties in a safe manner, while wearing all required PPE and immediately reports any safety concern to the supervisor.      

Major Responsibilities

• Visually inspects each unit for defects (bad knifes, wrinkles, warp, out of line, proper pad placement, loose liner, unit appearance, etc.).
• Units found to be defective must have defective material removed.
• Informs knife man of the amount of defective board so the amount can be rescheduled to run. 
• Measures at least one sheet from each order for length, width, and scoring accuracy.  Issues regarding quality are to be brought immediately to the knife man or supervisor’s attention.
• Reads production orders to ensure all special instructions are being fulfilled (units with specific height requirements, or that require exact quantities per unit, full pad protection, cross-banded, etc.).
• Monitors alignment of board and manipulates controls to ensure proper alignment of stacks.
• Understands and utilizes proper procedures for knife exit section controls and lift positioning controls. 
• Places tie sheets in multiple stacks, inserts proper pads or cross-pads to units when necessary.
• Operates the palletizing machinery and inspects units to ensure plastic bands are applied securely to each bale prior to shipment. 
• Communicates any special situations to the individual who is relieving them.
• Responsible for keeping area and equipment clean of any debris or scrap material.
• Attends all safety training provided by the employer. 

Education and Experience 

• High school diploma or equivalent; or up to one month related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Ability to read a tape measure to within 1/16th of an inch.

Job Description

The role of the Manufacturing Supervisor is to manage shift production in achieving safety, quality, service, waste, productivity and culture goals. This will be achieved through providing strong leadership to the team and managing the systems, equipment, people, and materials according to the established policies, procedures, specifications, and customer requirements.

Production Supervisor

This position is responsible for supervising daily operations of the production floor; ensuring the shift meets the established safety, quality, and production goals in compliance with all applicable legal and food safety requirements.

Essential Functions

• Manages and directs activities of assigned shift, ensuring product adheres to Niagara’s standard of safety, quality, and throughput.
• Maintains effective working relationships with team members through open communication, visibility, and involvement to promote a positive working environment that maximizes safety, employee engagement, productivity, and throughput.

• Analyzes the production schedule prior to shift start and adjusts team member assignments to meet production targets.  Verifies discrete jobs are correct in Oracle (including quality and bill of material list), Warehouse Management System, and/or Line Management System.

• Responsible for team member coaching and development, employment decisions, and resolving issues through conflict resolution.  Hires, trains, coaches and reviews performance of team members.   Partners with Human Resources and Production Manager for recruitment, corrective actions, and terminations.
• Inspects raw materials prior to changeovers to ensure correct inventories for production runs.  Performs first pass quality checks after changeovers to prevent non-conforming product.
• Collaborates with the Maintenance Department to resolve downtime occurrences on the production lines.
• Completes shift reports for production numbers, downtime, attendance, overtime and quality checks for submission to the Production Manager.
• Conducts walkthroughs throughout the shift to ensure safety, quality, and housekeeping compliance by team members.
• Interfaces with multiple departments within the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
• Participates in interviews with hiring managers.
• Collaborates with plant leadership and shift team members to champion a world-class safety culture.
• Conducts weekly safety talk trainings, daily safety/quality/production meetings, and hourly safety walks.
• Adheres to the highest standards of company and plant safety programs, guidelines, rules, and regulations.  
• Abides by Niagara’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety Standards at all times. Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
• Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shift team members.
• Monitors and reviews assigned team members time and attendance for accuracy.  Utilizes the Efficiency Improvement Tools to understand and comment on line downtime and communicate appropriately per the escalation plan.
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Ability to work 12 hour shifts, day or night, on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule or schedule as dictated by production demand.
