Estates & Maintenance Assistant – To Start January 2025

£24,612 - £27,428 per annum dependent on experience, skills and qualifications
40 hrs per week 10:00am – 7:00pm, Monday to Friday (with the need to be flexible to occasionally work outside these hours as required), working all year round with 30 days’ annual leave plus paid bank holidays.
The Role
Hallfield School is seeking to appoint a skilled Estates & Maintenance Assistant to assist with day to day maintenance and compliance of the School estate. This is an integral role within the Estates team and the successful candidate must be confident to lead and complete projects such as minor alterations and refurbishment tasks.
NVQ Level 2 or above in any trade such as carpentry, plastering, plumbing or construction would also be advantageous. In addition, any experience in multi-trade skills would be highly desirable.
The role offers a varied day, within a busy environment, covering maintenance, grounds work and compliance checks and testing. It would suit an individual who takes pride in their work, is able to show initiative whilst working supportively and flexibly within a team.
Key responsibilities of the Estates & Maintenance Assistant include, but are not limited to:
o Carrying out routine maintenance of school facilities in accordance with schedules or in response to break downs including carpentry; plumbing; basic electrical; decorating; drains/gutters.
o Assisting the Estates & Maintenance Manager with the running of heating systems.
o Carrying out safety checks on all school vehicles.
o Assisting with moving furniture and equipment for school events and carry out car park duties as required.
o Responding to emergency breakdowns/incidents and provide relief cleaning in emergencies if required.
o Undertaking weekly and monthly compliance tests including statutory testing of fire safety systems and equipment tests, water flushing, emergency lighting.
o Carrying out audits and checks as requested by the Director of Estates & Facilities.

What you'll be doing;

• Operate Mobile plant to ensure efficient plant operation and recyclate collection
  
• Operating the plant SCADA system when trained
  
• General cleaning of equipment, structure and floor within the Mechanical Pre Treatment (MPT) including baling hall and yard, shredders, trommels, ballistic separators and all mobile plant to name but a few
  
• Assisting with the supervision of contractors and visitors to the site
  
• Wearing of correct PPE
  
• Reporting all safety & plant / equipment issues
  
• Working as a team and maintain contact with others
  
• Using handrails and marked walkways when moving around site
  
• Keeping the work area clean and tidy from litter and spillages
  
• Stop the Job and report any safety issues to your Supervisor
  
• Checking all equipment, tools and machinery before using them
  
• Knowing where and how to use the emergency stops
  
• Clearing of blockages
  
• Basic isolations of plant to ensure own and staff safety (LOTO)
  

What we're looking for;

• Full UK driving licence
  
• Understanding of Health and safety policies and procedures
  
• Mobile plant licence and experience is desirable

Fletcher International Exports is one of Australia’s most integrated processors and exporters of lamb and sheep meat products. A private, family-owned company, Fletcher International process lamb and sheep meat products, wool and sheep skins and markets a diverse range of high quality by-products.

The expansion of the company’s farming interests has continued to increase the degree of vertical integration across the business. These interests have strengthened the livestock supply chain, while providing a source of quality crossbred lambs consistently throughout the year. About the opportunity

This is a full time position

We are seeking a team member for an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity as an assistance to our maintenance tradespeople.

The role would be a perfect fit for someone who is hands-on, and is process driven. The role encompasses opportunities for growth in our maintenance department, who up-skill existing team members and encourage new apprentices each year.

Your work will be challenging, and the successful applicant will be required to work in industrial manufacturing and agricultural environments to meet strict maintenance deadlines.



What are we looking for?

Hands-on workers who are willing to learn and take instruction.
Workers with strong initiative and good attitude.
Valid NSW driving license & forklift license desirable.
Understanding of basic mechanical and electrical parts and components desirable.
A team member to work as part of a dynamic maintenance team to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted production line
