The primary purpose of this position is to as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) officer position, to serve as an assistant to the Maintenance Group Commander and as such, reviews policy and assists the Senior ART/Maintenance Group (MXG) Commander in planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling all activities and operations of the Maintenance Group. Incumbent receives experience, training, and instruction in providing overall staff direction to all Maintenance Group programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. In conjunction with the MXG Senior Art/Commander plans, direct, organizes, manages, and provides oversight for activities in the Maintenance Group. Responsible to the Maintenance Group Senior ART/Commander in integrating, and executing all aspects of the assigned maintenance activities/programs within cost, schedule, performance and/or system supportability requirements.
2. Represents the Maintenance Group Commander at a variety of installation and functional area organizational meetings. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with other group commanders, representatives and senior staff at Numbered Air Force, HQ AFRC, gaining MAJCOMs, and Air Staff.
3. Ensures effective operation of the aircraft maintenance complex. Make periodic and comprehensive assessment of program through a review of performance indicators, productivity goals and accomplishments, deficiency reports, audit findings, etc.
4. Accomplishes special staff studies, projects and initiatives resulting from legislative and regulatory changes, reengineering efforts, new technology, privatization, program/mission changes, etc. Identifies the need for studies, establishes goals and objectives, and designates working group(s) as needed.

Supervises and trains inmate workers in various phases associated with the construction, repair, maintenance, and renovation of buildings and related structures, grounds, fixtures and utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, cement work, painting, welding, roofing, and other related trades.

WG-08: The purpose of this position is to perform limited diagnosis, routine repairs, and maintenance on combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment. Performs limited diagnosis, routine repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. Performs limited diagnoses to determine the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses basic test equipment such as compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters and pressure gauges. Removes, replaces, adjusts, cleans and installs parts and components such as wheel seals, switches, sensors, fuel pumps, water pumps, power steering pumps, brakes, filters, radiators, bearings, springs, shock absorbers, wheel cylinders, starter motors, mufflers, battery cables, and other items of similar complexity. Independently performs routine repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems using standard parts. Conducts limited readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity. Troubleshoots, performs maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. Troubleshoots equipment and diagnoses the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges, and computer diagnostic tools. Removes and disassembles engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems such as injectors, leaking wheel cylinders, corroded mufflers, fuel tanks, brake cylinders and worn brake shoes, voltage regulators, generators, injector pumps, and fuel pumps. Conducts readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity. May maintain and repair electronics communication equipment by removing and replacing components and elements. Assists in the maintenance of production reports and records and makes recommendations to the supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.
WG-11: The purpose of this position is to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, inspect, and/or overhaul a variety of complex combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment having complicated mechanical and non-mechanical systems with a variety of interconnected systems. Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repair on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical, and automotive vehicles. Troubleshoots equipment with a variety of the mechanically complex major systems and diagnoses difficult performance problems and the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks, uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges and computer diagnostic tools. Removes and disassembles engines and complex major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions with little or no supervision in remote locations. Conducts readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity. Performs electrical repairs on complex state of the art electrical and electronic systems requiring extensive training on specialized diagnostic equipment to identify problems. Assists in the maintenance of production reports and records, and makes recommendations to the supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.
