The Opportunity

As the Business Information Security Officer you will provide technical oversight and leadership in the assessment of Cyber risks to ensure the safe, reliable and ongoing operations of our nuclear power stations.

You’ll be the technical controlling mind in assessing the impact of potential cyber events and prioritising EDF Nuclear Operations activities and ensure the business is ready and able to identify, manage and recover from such events on behalf of the Licensee and Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO).

This position is based out of Gloucester Business Park, working to hybrid model with a mix of home and office working. Some travel will be required to other locations.

What you’ll be doing

Within this role, you will:


- Develop and implement a business cyber strategy as agreed by the SIRO.
- Support and create the implementation of security policies, standards, guidelines and processes and monitoring compliance against these requirements. If necessary, identify remedial actions where there is underperformance to mitigate risk.
- Be responsible for the risk framework within Nuclear Operations according to the business risk appetite and work collaboratively with Operational Technology and IT risk owners; ensuring that the reporting of risk and management is in accordance with the cyber risk management framework.
- Report KPI and risk indicators for escalation to the SIRO and EDF UK CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) to demonstrate effective controls and governance of the cyber security arrangements.
- Provide regulatory reporting for cyber security and as needed, engagement with relevant regulators stakeholders such as Ofgem, DESNZ, ONR.
- Embed the compliance regime with respect to applicable regulations and industry standards.
- Assess and manage the improvement of security posture and control coverage and maturity.
- Work with NISO (Nuclear Information Security Officer) EDF UK CISO and other BISOs to improve overall security posture of EDF UK collaboratively and consistently drive business outcomes across the group.
- Provide oversight for Information & Cyber Security controls delivered in functional teams.
- Actively promote secuiry awareness to embed a strong cyber secuirty culture in Nuclear Operations.


Who you are

You will have a solid understanding of information and cyber security risk principles coupled with strong business acumen and effective leadership skills underpinned by excellent written and oral communication.

You’ll have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to empower and engage people at all levels, including senior stakeholders (Board, CISO), with senior leadership experience in cyber security management and/ or GRC management including proven experience of successfully leading, high performing teams.

You will be technically competent with an ability to influence senior leaders and internal stakeholders with excellent knowledge of risk assurance, industry security standards and frameworks, technical security principles, and risk management frameworks. Detailed knowledge of the Nuclear Operations Risk Management System and Processes is also key.

You’ll possess knowledge and experience of relevant regulations and policy including Nuclear Industries Security Regulations (NISR 2003) and Data Protection Act (2018) and knowledge of Industry Standard cyber security management frameworks such as NIST and CAF.

Your personal strengths will be action orientated with a driven mentality; a problem solver with the ability to assimilate rapidly pertinent information from a variety of sources (written and spoken) and recommend/direct clear courses of action. Your experience of external stakeholder management and engagement at senior level with Government, regulators and other governmental agencies will be crucial to the role and experience in delivering projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment, ideally within the Nuclear or energy sector or similar regulated environment.

As a minimum you will have a HNC qualification and a degree in a relevant subject is advantageous. SC level vetting is a requirement for this position.

We are looking for an IT Cyber Security Specialist to join our Nuclear Security Branch, as part of our Nuclear Services Business. EDF Nuclear Services is a specialist technical area, and we bring together technical capabilities to support the Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC) nuclear new build projects as well as the existing operating power stations and decommissioning sites.

As an IT Cyber Security Specialist, you will be part of a team supporting the IT Cyber Security Requirements Manager to improve and assure the security of Information Technology (IT) assets across EDF’s nuclear licensee businesses.

You will work with other members of the team to provide support relating to network, system and device security, including input to governance, design review, risk assessment and incident response.

You will also provide advice and guidance on information security issues and topics to colleagues across the business.

What you’ll be doing

In your role you will support the IT Cyber Requirements Manager in implementing and ensuring Information Security standards, while actively contributing to the improvement of the organisation's security culture.

You will advise on compliance with relevant regulatory and company policy requirements, escalating non-conformances as needed.

It is important to build and maintain strong relationships with Cyber Security Leads, Site IT Services Team Leaders, Site Heads of Security, and other key personnel, and you will promote Information Security policies, procedures, and practices to staff, contractors, and third parties across nuclear businesses.

You will conduct and supervise formal Information Security risk assessments to identify risks to the Nuclear licensee business and ensure appropriate mitigations are selected.

Finally, you will provide additional support for Information Security activities across nuclear licensee businesses, as directed by the IT Cyber Requirements Manager and Nuclear Information Security Officer (NISO).


Who you are

You should have an HND or Degree in a relevant subject and a working knowledge of cyber security standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) is required, with some experience applying these in an operational role.

Experience working on complex projects is essential and you must have the ability to work on your own initiative, while also building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders as part of a wider information and cyber security team.

Excellent written and oral communication skills are needed, along with the ability to think critically and logically in a highly regulated environment.

An understanding of IT functionality within the context of Nuclear Site Licence Conditions, Safety Cases, and handling sensitive nuclear information would be beneficial.

Relevant cybersecurity qualifications such as Security+, CISSP, GICSP, CISM, Blue Team, Risk Fundamentals, or equivalents are desirable.

Job Overview

-To protect our customer's property, people and/or assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the sites published Assignment Instructions (AI's) and any subsequent changes.

-Delivering results that meet and / or exceed the Key performance indicators / Service Level Agreement for the customer through full responsibility and accountability, providing a service that aids in the retention of the contract.

Main Duties

Operations

-To be aware of and ensure compliance with all aspects of policies and relevant legal and regulatory requirements as directed by the Security Account Manager and in accordance with UK Law and Guidance bodies.

-Fully and satisfactorily complete all of the tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions (AI's).

-Proactively refer to and review the published Assignment Instructions, thus familiarising oneself with any changes in order to suggest additional amendments that will improve or enhance the current level of service.

-To be compliant with Industry and Statutory Legislation (you are required to obtain a front-line licence in either Security Guarding or Door Supervision), which must be worn at all times whilst carrying out your duties. The Customer also requires a CCTV PSS SIA Licence. There are also additional courses that are contractually required.

-Comply with legal obligations and safety requirements of the role.

-Follow instructions and procedures appropriately without unnecessarily challenging authority.

-Work in a systematic, methodology and orderly way.

Training

-Fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training.

About The Role
Overall, Purpose of the Role:

To create and maintain a quality standard on the Contract sites in order that the Agreed Specification / Service Level Agreements and other various Trust Policies and Procedures are carried out. You will be working on a 4-on-4-off shift pattern, nights and days, 42 hours per week, on a permanent, full-time basis. Main Duties & Responsibilities of the Role:

• Ensure you have full knowledge of all the sites assignments instructions which must be adhered to.
• Point of contact for all Officers, including University staff, visitors and contractors who come to site.
• Visit each of the 14 UAL sites across London once per shift.

• To maintain an excellent level of security cover and to effectively respond to reports of incidents.
• To Update Time gate system with Officers working hours and update Roster.
• To complete Timesheets and associated paperwork for payroll Purposes.
• To carry out Security Officers welfare 1 to 1 Forms Monthly.
• To carry out security audits Monthly.

Requirements:

• To have completed secondary education with sound knowledge of MS Office products.
• Security Industry Authority Licence (DS & CCTV) & First Aid Certificate.
• Previous experience within the Security Industry is desirable.
• Ability to follow policy and procedures.
• Willingness to bring concerns to corporate attention via prescribed channels.

Responsibilities

Supporting Nuclear Generation, Thermal, Decommissioning and Transfer , your duties will include:


- Commercial: Negotiate and advise on commercial contracts.
- Projects: Support with strategic initiatives, M&A activities, and development opportunities.

Lead and model clinical practice whilst supporting and encouraging colleagues to reach their potential. To provide support for the delivery of other school based immunisation programmes. To actively contribute to the development and co-ordination of health promotion programmes to school aged children to improve the uptake of the school based immunisation programme. To assist in the planning, co-ordination and delivery of community BCG clinics. Liaise and work collaboratively with the Gloucestershire NHS Foundation Trust respiratory team in relation to complex BCG queries. Maintain contemporaneous, factual records with the child the focus of all assessments and actions in accordance with Public Health Nursing Service guidelines and organisations clinical record keeping policy. Be proactive in identification of risk factors and signs and symptoms of child abuse and act according to organisation and Gloucestershire Safeguarding Childrens Board protocols at all times. Liaise collaboratively with Gloucestershires schools, the Child in Care Team and Social Care to ensure children who are vulnerable and or with complex health needs receive the their vaccinations. The development of training packages and the delivery to school aged children and the PHN Teams, e.g. HPV training programmes or cascade training. Provide signposting to other services and agencies, referring onwards in a timely manner and liaising appropriately seeking first any necessary consent.
