The City of Edinburgh Council is looking for a motivated, innovative and dynamic leader to take on the role of Event and Public Safety Operations Manager. Edinburgh is the leading festival and events city and this role offers a unique opportunity to be at the heart of how it all works.

This role offers the opportunity to lead the team that looks after event planning for all major events and sports grounds in the City. • Develop and implement a work programme for the event and venues team, aligning this with the Council’s Culture Plan and Council Business Plan priorities.

• Contract management for physical security contractors to ensure crowded spaces are protected appropriately, in accordance with the Council’s Procurement rules, and liaise with the relevant council teams to ensure works are coordinated.
• Chair Event Planning and Operation Group and Safety Advisory Group meetings for high-profile events and represent the Council in these meetings.
• Lead, on behalf of the Council, the planning and delivery of large events in the city, escalate issues and making recommendations to senior managers if issues arise and/or following events.
• Manage and coordinate council resources during event delivery, acting as the Council’s Tactical (Silver) Commander for large public events if required).
• Develop, enhance and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues, to ensure effective management of city event operations.
• Provide advice to the Council’s licensing service in relation to event and venue safety, providing reports and attending the Licensing Sub Committee as required.
• To initiate, develop and manage the implementation of new approaches to event planning and operations.

Duties:

• Installation, fit fire detection and security systems accurately
• Maintenance and regular checks and servicing of systems for optimal performance
• Repairs, swiftly troubleshoot and fix any system issues
• Compliance, ensuring all work meets industry standards and regulations
• Maintain accurate records of all activities
• Provide professional support and advice to clients
• Work closely with colleagues to deliver projects efficiently

Requirements:

• Proven experience in fire detection and security system installation and maintenance
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Relevant certifications and qualifications preferred
• Previous Facilities Management experience

What we're looking for
* Previous legal secretarial or legal experience in general

· You enjoy maintaining a clean and safe environment for the team and our guests. You will be cleaning all areas of the bedrooms, changing the blankets and duvets, dusting all surfaces and sanitising the bathrooms.
