Position Summary:

The Facilities Designer for Structural Engineering will join the Architecture and Civil Engineering Section, which includes a team of architects, civil engineers, structural engineers, the Roof Program Manager, the Building Code Program Manager, and the Quality Assurance Program Manager. The Facilities Designer will work as a team member with Architecture and Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Environmental and Energy Engineering to deliver effective and efficient full-range professional engineering services in support of university-wide construction and renovation projects. The Facilities Designer will perform designs with general direction from the Design Lead or assist engineers with larger design projects. This position will provide design support and serve as technical resource for a range of civil and structural systems, including building structures, site utilities/infrastructure, bridges, parking structures, and system assessments. The Facilities Designer will prepare CAD/BIM Drawings in coordination with other disciplines according to CAD/BIM standards and assists with composing studies and reports.  

The Facilities Designer may assist with preparation of the Opinion of Probable Costs and technical specifications, as well as fee estimates for design proposals. The Facilities Designer will organize their own design and drafting efforts to deliver work product within project budgets and schedules and supports design managers during construction. The position requires construction site visits where odors, dust, noise, and/or physical hazards may be present. Other requirements may include climbing ladders, riding in aerial work platforms, working in confined space, and utilizing safety harnesses and other PPE as applicable per OSHA and university requirements.

Cornell University is looking for a Major Gift Officer to join the College of Engineering -- the largest engineering program among the Ivies. Our Engineers are solving some of the world’s most important challenges, big and small – from space exploration to climate change to nanomedicine.

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Major Gift Officer is a cornerstone for Cornell Engineering, and has direct access to the faculty, staff, and students whose stories are vital to our work. The Major Gift Officer manages an estimated pool of 80-100 households, with an emphasis on gift capacity of $250k to $3M or more.  They will assist the Director in implementing pipeline growth initiatives, as well as play an integral role in the liaison structure with departments and schools within the College of Engineering. The Major Gift Officer will also serve as a vital partner to university gift officers, leveraging relationships, and sharing expertise on priorities identified by the college’s dean, Lynden Archer.  An ideal candidate is someone who finds fulfillment in working through complex situations requiring consideration of multiple perspectives in the pursuit of building strong, meaningful relationships with faculty and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify prospective donors, initiate personal contact, and create opportunities for philanthropic engagement with the College of Engineering and Cornell University.

• Create/implement fundraising strategies, connecting prospects and donors to college and department/school priorities by building strong, long-term relationships with alumni, parents, and friends of Cornell.

• Manage an estimated pool size of 80-100 prospect households, comprised of a mixture of unqualified, new and long-term donors, with the goal of securing major gifts.

• Regularly solicit and close gifts of $250,000 or greater, with an emphasis on prospects with seven figure capacity, while simultaneously raising donor sights, encourage annual giving, multi-year commitments, and estate gifts.

• Be conversant on core priorities and product knowledge for the university and the College of Engineering, as well as effectively access more detailed information as needed.

• Collaborate with faculty, staff, administrators, and colleagues in the Division of Alumni Affairs and Development.

• Assist the Director in implementing stewardship initiatives, the liaison structure with departments and schools within the College of Engineering, and other activities as needed.

• Effectively and regularly communicate and visit with prospects through various means but with an emphasis on in-person.

• Actively collaborate with key stakeholders to develop customized cultivation and stewardship activities, including nominations for volunteer leadership roles.

• Serve as a resource to other gift officers in helping to develop strategies for prospect development.

• Maintain accurate database information reflecting prospect strategies and activities and for compiling complete gift and commitment documentation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree and 7 - 10 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination, in development, alumni affairs, public affairs, marketing, and/or business development.

• As corporate SME interprets regulatory standards or guidance relating to reprocessing and translates into local and corporate procedures.

• Establishes global implementation strategy and timelines for new or updated standards.

• Provide SME interpretation of: ISO 11135, ISO 11138-X, ISO 10993-X, ISO 17664-1/-2, ISO 17665-X, ISO 11607-X, ISO 15883-X, EN 13060, EN 285, AAMI ST 79, AAMI TIR 12/30, AAMI ST8, AAMI ST98, ISO 14161, EN 14885, EN ISO 11737-X, FDA Endotoxin and Reprocessing guidelines, RKI Guidance, MHP Central Sterilization supplements.

• Effectively communicate complex concepts in presentations, regulatory submissions, and in technical reports to global audiences.

• Develop reprocessing methods, lead IFU validations, resolve cleaning and sterilization concerns during development.

Vous soutiendrez l'entreprise dans ses prises de décision et veillerez au respect des objectifs financiers et au strict respect des transactions officielles.

Vous soutiendrez la préparation de :

• La planification financière et prévisions de fin d'année, y compris la convergence avec les programmes respectifs

• Rapports financiers trimestriels et annuels, comprenant l’analyse des écarts et proposant des actions de redressement si nécessaire

Vous supporterez aussi le contrôleur 1S avec :

• l’analyse des coûts par nature sur les coûts internes et externes.

• l'élaboration de KPI financiers pour la communauté 1S et les revues FCI

• La définition des leviers de performance en collaboration avec le business

• l’adherence au Engineering Handbook

Vous accompagnerez et assisterez les gens, expliquerez, donnerez du sens aux leviers et processus Finance et épaulerez de près les ingénieurs.

Vous contribuerez à la transformation de la Finance pour l'Engineering (Outils, Façons de Travailler,...) et vous participerez aux projets de transformation de l’Engineering.

 

Compétences & Prérequis :

Vous allez intégrer une formation de niveau BAC +5  dans le domaine de controlling Financier pour un apprentissage d’une durée de 1, 2 ou 3 ans.

Vous avez les connaissances et compétences suivantes :

• Étudiant en Master (Finance ou Commerce)

• Connaissances en finance et en contrôle de gestion

• Esprit de partenariat avec le business (c'est-à-dire capacité à développer une relation de confiance, développer l'empathie et se concentrer sur la valeur ajoutée)

• Esprit d'équipe et travail d'équipe

• Bonnes compétences en communication et en présentation

• Curieux, bien structuré, fortes capacités d'analyse

• Autonomie et adaptabilité face au changement

• Anglais courant

To fuel further development, we invite applications for an Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) position in Geotechnical Engineering.

Applicants would need to possess PhD in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering with strong interdisciplinary expertise in areas such as soil mechanics, underground construction, soil improvement, instrumentation, monitoring, numerical analysis, Geoenvironmental engineering, as well as using the latest technologies such as AI, digitalization, data analytics, zero carbon and emerging geomaterials. Applicants who are competent to teach first- and second-year undergraduate basic courses for Civil Engineering such as Mechanics of Materials, Fluid Mechanics, Computing and Mathematics will be considered favourably.  Candidates would also need to demonstrate strong and relevant teaching ability and strong communication skills. Applicants with industry experience will have an added advantage.
