Building Systems UK is downstream business within Tata Steel UK. The business sells Building Solutions, products & processing services predominantly into the construction industry. The product range is the most diverse in the market place, with an offering including structural roof and flooring decks, built up and insulated composite panel systems, processing and ancillary building products.
Building Systems UK operates from a single manufacturing base in Shotton, North Wales. It’s global brands are widely specified across the UK, EU and Rest of the world. The customer base is categorised into three distinct areas; Manufacturers, Specifiers and Contractors. Different sales techniques are required for each discipline with the business development team focus upon the ‘specifier’ (Engineer & Architect) working together with the Sales team who focus on securing orders with the contractor, the ‘transaction’ Contracts.
What you will do
Reporting to the Internal Sales Manager, the position exists to ensure that all price enquiries are dealt with in line with agreed service levels and proactive sales calls are made to “sell” the range of products within the portfolio.
Additional responsibilities of this role will include, but are not limited to
To respond to customer pricing enquiries ensuring that they are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner, whilst maximising margin opportunities for the business
Develop and maintain regular contact with new and existing customers in order to develop strong relationships, ensure repeat business from accounts & support commercial targets
Using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, ensure leads generated are actively tracked, enquiries/quotes are logged, & projects specified are converted from tender stage to contractor award
Proactively manage customer quotations, effective tracking of live quotations as well as cold calling prospective new customers in order to achieve target quote conversion rates by product
Support the resolution of commercial related customer complaints to ensure timely &, wherever possible, amicable solutions are reached to the satisfaction of both parties
Ensure that operations, including those undertaken on the Company’s behalf by third party service providers, are conducted in a manner that fully complies with health and safety, quality, environmental and corporate policies
What you will need
We are looking for individuals with excellent communication & interpersonal skills, ideally honed through sales exposure to contractors and within a construction environment. The jobholder will be a self starter with the ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales, with a proven track record in sales.
A proven ability to develop and sustain excellent relationships with contractors is essential for this role.
The role requires strong influencing skills coupled with drive and enthusiasm indicative of a proactive approach.
