About The Role
Student Partnership and Engagement Services is seeking a dynamic and creative individual to join the team and help lead impactful student communications.

The primary aim of the role is to develop and create dynamic and engaging content for students at Swansea University, across a wide range of platforms. The post holder will be skilled in editing, creating, and delivering relevant and high-quality communications to a wide audience.

Working in partnership with the Students’ Union, Faculties, Professional Services and Academies the Officer will help to enable the University to deliver on its commitment to working with students as partners and to deliver an exceptional student experience.

The post will include:
• Creating and delivering communications plans for significant activities in the student journey.
• Developing relationships with other stakeholders across the University to create a communications community and the sharing of best practice.
• Managing and maintaining content calendars, using analytics tools to monitor engagement and undertaking competitor analysis to ensure student communications are forward-thinking and impactful for Swansea University.

The purpose of the role is to support Swansea University’s role within the Dementias Platform UK (DPUK) collaboration, a £53 million pound public-private Medical Research Council funded endeavour to create a wide reaching and innovative dementias research facility, incorporating different research disciplines from stem-cell research to data analysis. DPUK is a world leading resource for person focussed dementias research designed to fast-track scientific knowledge, treatments and the prevention of the disease. Over the past couple of years, DPUKs neuroimaging collection has rapidly grown, as well as project applications to use this data. This has meant we have had to develop processes and tools to be able to support the provision and analysis of this data.

We are seeking a data scientist to actively contribute to the development of the Dementias Platform UK (DPUK) neuroimaging data collection and groundbreaking research. This post is for a role to contribute to the implementation of neuroimaging processes within the DPUK Data Portal, to support neuroimaging data management such as anonymisation and standardisation, the development and improvement of our big data infrastructure and tools, as well as contributing to research activities.

We’re recruiting a research associate for a Welsh Government grant identifying climate change education curricula in alternative education settings

We have received funding through a SMART partnership from Welsh Government to look at climate change education in Additional Learning Needs settings in Wales.

You will work with Swansea University and the Eco-schools programme through Keep Wales Tidy to identify and document best practice climate change education initiatives within special schools and pupil referral units across Wales.

You will visit special schools and PRUs across South Wales to meet with teachers and learners to gather information to meet the project objectives, which are:
• The identification and collation of existing exemplary practice of environmental and CCSE in ALN Settings and alternative provision settings across Wales, using the Keep Wales Tidy network and links to appropriate educational settings.
• Supporting the dissemination of these examples of exemplary practice across educational settings throughout Wales, through the Keep Wales Tidy network.
• The completion of a mapping and gapping exercise, to identify the gaps in current knowledge and availability of appropriate resources to support environmental and CCSE in ALN Settings and alternative provision settings and across the spectrum of additional learning needs.
• To liaise with key stakeholders within the ALN Settings and alternative provision sector to ensure that the educational resources created can be informed, developed and refined by educational practice.
This position will provide you with the opportunity to conduct academic research and build knowledge and expertise in two key areas –
i) enhanced knowledge of climate change and sustainability education and ii) enhanced knowledge of working with learners with a range of additional learning needs.

This offers you the potential to develop as the first practitioner in Wales with specialist knowledge of both climate change and CCSE and supporting, designing and delivering resources for learners with additional learning needs.

Following the success of the SAIL databank, the infrastructure used to provide it was identified as suitable to host datasets for other research groups within Swansea. Following interest from organisations in Australia and Canada, implementation exists in 2 locations outside the UK.

In this role, you will:

Work as a member of the Innovation Team to deliver strategic projects, supporting our migration to Kubernetes.
Gain deeper experience in GitOps deployment strategies.
Work with senior team members to design, build, and deploy CI/CD pipelines to facilitate the work of our development team.
Have the opportunity to learn and use many cutting-edge technologies as we explore their adoption.
Use your knowledge of Python to implement and refactor Airflow DAGs to handle the data lifecycle within UKSeRP.

The ALPHA collaboration at CERN synthesises and traps antihydrogen for precision tests of fundamental symmetry. The collaboration is world leading in precision spectroscopy and gravitational studies of antihydrogen. Following a major upgrade to the frequency metrology instrumentation in ALPHA, the aim is now to achieve or surpass the precision of spectroscopy in ordinary hydrogen. Swansea University is a founding member and a major stakeholder in the collaboration.

The successful candidate will join the Swansea team at CERN and will become a full member of the ALPHA collaboration. The Department of Physics has four permanent academic staff members, three post-doctoral staff and four PhD students actively contributing to the ALPHA project at CERN. The length of this fixed-term role can be extended beyond the initial period subject to available funding and performance.

We have 3 Fixed Term position until March 2026. These are a combination of Research Assistant and Research Officer positions, you will be appointed to the role most suitable for you.

The successful applicants will be based in a thriving mental health research team with over £40M in joint funding over the last five years, where you will be able to learn new skills and will be supported throughout your career development. You will apply your research, analytical and/or programming expertise to answer mental health related questions. Your work will result in the publication of research findings as policy briefings and high-impact journal papers.

The team is led by Prof. Ann John and focuses on child and adolescent mental health and suicide and self-harm prevention. Prof. Ann John is chair of the National Advisory Group on suicide and self-harm prevention to Welsh Government, member of SAGE, Trustee of the Samaritans. She is also co-director of DATAMIND, Principle Investigator of the National Centre for Mental Health (NCMH), leads the Data Science theme in the Wolfson Centre for Young People’s Mental Health, focussing on reducing anxiety and depression in young people and also co-leads the Data and Digital theme of the Mental Health Mission that aims at enabling data and digital technologies to be used efficiently and consistently in the development and evaluation of new treatments for mental health disorders.


You will join Prof. John’s team and work with data resources such as the Secure Anonymised Information Linkage (SAIL) Databanks at Swansea University. SAIL is a research Centre of Excellence that brings together a breadth of multi-disciplinary partners through catalytic collaboration. It is a safe haven for billions of person-based records, spanning up to 20 years from the entire population of Wales, which enables researchers to answer important questions for the benefit of society.

The post-holder will have a background in clinical epidemiology and/or health data science and have enthusiasm and aptitude for working with mental health related data. Preferably, you will be experienced in the use of large relational databases through SQL, be fluent in a programming language such as R, Stata or Python, and have knowledge of routine big data such as GP records and hospital admissions.

The Infrastructure Technician assists with the day-to-day operation, security and delivery of our infrastructure services, developing and supporting products and services that are efficient, secure, perform optimally and are aligned to business goals and objectives. The post holder is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of configuration data, capacity planning, service availability and continuity.

The Academic Partnerships Department supports the University and Faculties in developing and managing teaching and learning partnerships with education institutions and organisations in the UK and internationally. With the University’s focus on expanding its transnational education offering (Swansea University education delivered internationally at partner institutions), the work of the Department and the number and scale of projects has increased significantly. This role will involve providing administrative support to project teams including specific administrative functions necessary to ensure the effective set up and operation of collaborative partnerships, and duties associated with the management and operation of the office. The successful candidate will be required to manage partnership records; provide support with meeting organisation, minute-taking, production of reports and follow up activities as well as partnership specific activities like quality assurance monitoring, manage the day-to-day activities of the Department, including acting as the main point of contact for enquiries and undertake financial duties as required.

The post holder will be expected to be competent in Microsoft applications, MS Teams, SharePoint, databases, and financial management systems. The post holder will be expected to have suitable experience in a similar role and be familiar with processes of the University or similar organisations. Excellent communication skills including the ability to liaise with senior University staff and external bodies will be essential to this role.
