CLASS DESCRIPTION

Baltimore Youthworks Summer Jobs Program is one of the largest summer jobs initiatives in the nation. For the past 5 years, the goal has been to offer 8,000 City youth an opportunity to work and earn wages during the summer months. Built on the unspoken expected reality that a large percentage of black and brown youth would have unequal access to a summer job because of structural and institutional racism, Youthworks prioritizes those most impacted – youth receiving public assistance, low wage families and youth connected to the Department of Juvenile Service.

This is a service delivery position where work duties involve direct support of the Youthworks Program Coordinators of both the private and public sector.  Assignments are carried out in accordance with Baltimore City (COB) and the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED) - Youth Services Division procedures and policies.  Work is performed under supervision of a MOED administrative superior. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Answer, screen, and direct calls to appropriate person or unit.
• Communicate operational policies and procedures to program partners and youth participants.
• Manage YW Program Coordinators and Data Quality Supervisors calendars and schedule meetings.
• Prepare documents, materials, and reports for meetings, presentations, and trainings.
• Assist youth and worksites with completing the YW application and required documents. 
• Ensure youth participant folders meet audit guidelines.
• Run and prepare reports daily.
• Operate office equipment (i.e. multi-line telephone system, copiers, scanner, and laptop/desktop computer)
• Organize, scan and file documents to Youthwork system.
• Address, document, and resolve worksite and youth related problems.

• Prepares various reports on operations and activities for both inter and intra departmental use.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE: Have three years of experience working in human services field with youth programs and at least 1 year of customer service experience.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

A Utilities Installer and Repairer Supervisor I oversees and participates in the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of water mains, service pipes, fire hydrants, water meters, main extensions, sanitary house connections, manholes, waste water pipes, mains, storm drains and related appurtenances of the water distribution and waste water collection systems. Work of this class involves supervising utility maintenance, equipment operation and laboring personnel.

Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a five day workweek including evenings, weekends and holidays on a rotating basis, and are subject to 24-hour call-back on a rotating basis and as required for emergencies or held over until properly relieved or for emergencies. Work is performed outdoors where incumbents are exposed to inclement weather and traffic. Work requires strenuous physical exertion including frequent bending, stooping, crawling, reaching and pushing and pulling of heavy objects.
