We have 2 exciting opportunities for someone to join our Clinical Coding Training and Audit Team as a Clinical Coding Auditor.

These posts are open to those who wish to start a career as a Clinical Coding Auditor as well as those who may already hold NHS England Approved Clinical Coding Auditor Status.

The post holder will work with our Senior Clinical Coding Auditor, working with our Clinical Coding Data Analytics system as well as performing individual and speciality based structured audits. You will also work closely with Maidstone and Tunbridge Well’s Clinical Coding Trainers , Management teams and Clinical Teams to improve Data Quality and the accuracy of Clinically Coded Data.

We will support the successful candidates to work towards achieving NHS England Approved Auditor Status.

Utilise the clinical coding departments data analytics software tool to drive improvements in the quality of coded data that is produced by the clinical coding department. To liaise with clinicians and trust management to ensure high standards of documentation are maintained and improved where necessary with the aid of the data analytics tool, consequently ensuring data quality is maximised for all specialties within the Trust.

To undertake monthly checks of specific data to ensure that the clinical coding department is producing consistently robust high-quality data.

Undertake targeted clinical coding audits for all specialties across the Trust and clinical coders within the department. Ensuring that the clinical coded data conforms to current clinical coding national standards.

As part of this role you will be required to feedback coding errors and flag poor practice both in coding and documentation standards. Working closely with the Senior Clinical Coding Auditor, Senior Clinical Coding Trainer and the wider Clinical Coding management team.

As a Clinical Coding Auditor, you will liaise with clinical coders, clinicians and managers, to enhance the accuracy and completeness of clinical coding.

As part of the audit team you will provide advice to the coding staff on coding matters, help monitor and respond to coding query emails that are sent to a designated email inbox.

Support the Head of Maternity Governance on monitoring standards relating to Maternity Incentive Scheme Safety Actions.

Support the maternity services in meeting its statutory requirements and clinical governance objectives by monitoring and reporting on the progress of national drivers and regulatory initiatives such as Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle, NHS Resolution Maternity Incentive Scheme, Clinical audit agenda, MBRRACE and the Perinatal Mortality Review Tool and the national maternity reports relating to Ockendon, Kirkup, Nottingham and other maternity service reviews. The post holder will ensure triangulation of information and intelligence from National and Local drivers.

The post holder will be responsible for leading the maternity quality assurance agenda in line with the Trust Policies & Procedures and best practice guidance relating to CNST submissions, saving babies lives and ATTAIN.

Lead on the development of policies and procedures and associated documentation related to maternity quality assurance to ensure they comply with MIS Safety actions, NHSR risk management standards and any other external monitoring bodies. Ensure policies are implemented, monitored and reviewed.

Maintain working relationships with clinical colleagues and the senior midwifery leadership team to deliver on the requirements of this post

· Establish regulation and compliance programs for dedicated specific areas of compliance identified for Maternity Incentive Scheme Safety Actions.

· Support clinical teams with external reviews, Quality Assurance visits and ensure process and support is in place for on-going monitoring and quality improvement methodology applied to action plans.

· Be regularly visible / present in clinical areas, encouraging interaction with all groups of staff and speaking with staff to enable triangulation of data and establish effective working relationships.

· Work closely with the other quality governance teams within the Trust to ensure meaningful and proactive triangulation of data

· Support the implementation, delivery and compliance of actions from national maternity reviews

· Respond to requirements for assurance, evidence submissions, general report for compliance by the LMNS and NHSE/I as required.

· Ensure the development and management of compliance and QA plans as required.

· Work collaboratively with the Midwifery management and Consultant Obstetricians to identify appropriate audit programmes are initiated in response to clinical incident investigation/trend analysis, and ensure that improvements identified are implemented.

The post holder would contribute to the Trust's safeguarding agenda, including child protection, Midwifery safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act, Domestic Abuse, Adult Safeguarding and PREVENT agendas within the Trust, in line with National and local guidance. An exciting opportunity has arisen in Theatres at Maidstone Hospital for dynamic, innovative and highly motivated individual to work within our new Kent and Medway Orthopaedic Centre as a Theatre Support Worker!

Over 200 new posts will support the new Centre, which is part of a national scheme to deliver more than 50 new surgical hubs across England. The new Centre will open in spring 2024 and treat patients from across the region, increasing the Trust’s capacity for planned surgical procedures.

The Centre will contain the latest novel open plan laminar flow theatres; open-plan surgical areas where up to three patients are treated in a dedicated space with a specialised air canopy over each station to prevent the spread of infection. The new facility will also include a 14-bed inpatient ward and a 10-bed day case ward, with recovery, x-ray and therapy space, all within a dedicated elective building.

The Centre will expand orthopaedic surgical capacity across Kent and Medway, playing an important part in elective recovery and the reduction of patient waiting times across the region.

The Kent and Medway Orthopaedic Centre will work alongside our existing services to provide care. Our amazing Maidstone Orthopaedic Centre (MOU) and Maidstone Short Stay Unit (MSSU) will all continue.

You will receive structured training to work in this specialist area whilst working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a consistent and high standard of patient centred care.
• Help to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of staff, patients and visitors, and to protect the patients Privacy & Dignity
• Be aware of legislation and policies governing theatre practice, particularly in terms of universal precautions
• Preparation of theatres for surgery
• Cleaning of theatre and recovery areas before and after operating sessions, also adhering to the weekly cleaning schedule
• Restocking of cupboards and stock containers against agreed stock levels.
• Collect and escort the patient, and assist with transferring of the patient from trolley to table under supervision of trained staff.

Ward 32 cares for a mixture of elective and emergency surgical patients. You will be dealing with acutely unwell patients with varying complex needs. We transfer patients to Intensive Care and also receive patients from the Intensive Care Unit. You will have ample opportunity to learn and develop yourself as a Staff Nurse in this supportive environment. We are also in the process of developing an Enhanced Surgical Care Unit. This will be a specialist unit that is dedicated to care for post-operative surgical patients who otherwise would require HDU care.
