As part of our mission, we aspire to deliver excellent Housing Management Services for all of our customers, and to help us we’re now looking for a talented Income Recovery Advisor to join us on fixed term basis for a period of 6 months. This role would enable you to directly contribute to helping other by delivering a great Income service, helping our residents to maintain their tenancy and directly supports them.
Joining a large, supportive and experienced team you’ll be dealing with debt recovery up to court phase, at which point you’ll hand over to our Income Recovery Officers. The role will be a hybrid position, contracted to 36.25 hours per week. To us, this means home-working with an expectation working from one of our offices a minimum of once per week (Boston, Rushden, Peterborough) for collaboration, training or meeting purposes to support your colleagues or customers.
When joining our Income Recovery Team your work will be varied each day and really ‘make a difference’. In this role you will build on your experience of:
Being part of a successful team, working collectively to reduce rent debt and ensure our customers put rent first, while balancing our responsibilities as a social landlord.
Holding quality and in-depth telephone conversations with tenants in rent debt, fully establishing their financial circumstances, working through Income and Expenditures, and establishing the reasons for non-payment.
Using facts established, to decide upon a proportionate and appropriate approach toward each tenant.
Giving clear, and where necessary, firm messages regarding the importance of rent being prioritised.
Gaining a payment proposal to clear rent debt in the shortest affordable period of time.
Establishing a genuine commitment to future good payment conduct.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have experience in debt recovery and telephone-based work, preferably within Social Housing, although if you hold transferable skills and are keen to make a difference in peoples lives, we’ll give you all the tools you need to succeed. As an Income Recovery Advisor with a strong customer service ethic, you must have an ability to demonstrate:
Excellent negotiating skills.
Ability to stay cool in challenging situations.
Drive and organisational skills to manage your own caseload.
Ability to communicate effectively with our customers primarily by telephone contact, but also via a range of written media.
An understanding of debt recovery management.
Good knowledge of welfare benefits.
