Job Summary
Faculty and instructors are responsible for curriculum, teaching, service, scholarship, and related administrative activities that support the mission, vision, and values of the university.
The College of Arts and Humanities at Lindenwood University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Music, with specialization in vocal/choral music.
Qualified applicants will possess a terminal degree (PhD, DMA, or equivalent; ABD candidates will be considered) in Music with specialization in vocal performance, choral music, and/or choral conducting. The successful candidate will be expected to teach 4 courses (12 credit hours) each semester within the music curricula, including leading choral groups. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching online. All Lindenwood faculty members are expected to advise and mentor students, continue to develop their expertise through research and scholarship, and participate in faculty governance and campus life.
The Assistant Professor of Music is a full-time, 9-month faculty position that will begin August 15, 2024. Review of applications will begin February 5 and will continue until the position is filled.
The successful applicant will be a mission-driven team player with a vision for growth in both the size and impact of Lindenwood’s Music programs and the experience to accomplish that vision. They will also be an accomplished musician and music educator eager to provide Lindenwood students with an excellent education and learning experience. This position will be responsible for the Concert Choir, University Chorus, Voices Only a cappella group, and music education coursework, as well as supervision of vocal student placement, professional accompanists, and piano proficiency.

Additional Requirements for this position:
- Three or more years of teaching experience at the college or university level and/or as a private voice lesson instructor is preferred.
- Choral conducting experience and K-12 experience in vocal/choral music are required; collaborative pianist, academic program leadership experience, preparedness to teach Music Theory, and an MME are preferred.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills, as well as a commitment to service excellence, are required.

Technological & Related Skills: Ability to use current technology to enhance effectiveness including but not limited to computers, computer-assisted instruction programs, and audio-visual equipment; willing to learn and apply any other new technology necessary to enhance learning; working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Canvas (LMS), CAMS (SIS), and Workday (EIS); and ability to use phones, fax machines, printers, scanners and copiers.
