Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Operations IT Business Process Technologist Lead located in Deer Park, TX, and supporting all the Houston Hub sites.
About you and this role –
Dow has an opportunity aligned to the Operational Excellence organization with a primary focus on implementation, support, sustainability, and application management of OPD (a web-based application that serves as a single tool for managing primary facility operation activities in support of the Make Product Work Process), and a variety of Digital Manufacturing Acceleration (DMA) tools and work processes within Operations including the Make Product Work Process (MPWP). You will work under the Operational Excellence organization, but support all the functions such as Operations, Analytical, Logistics, Maintenance, EH&S, ES&S, and Tech Centers.
This role facilitates collaboration between functions /disciplines and experts in the application of information technology (IT) within an Operations context. The basis of this collaboration is the shared objective of defining, delivering and supporting IT solutions providing optimal capability at minimal lifecycle cost.
Serves as technical support, and oversight of assigned work processes, procedures, and I/T applications, tools and systems aligned with one or more Operations IT/OT technology disciplines. Leads technical and work process support and oversight, best-in-class processes and applications by end users across sites. Requires advanced skills and expertise in a range of processes, procedures, and systems, along with specialized technical expertise within an operational process to lead a broad range of complex deliverables. Leads and executes tasks and activities aligned to the Houston Hub Digital Strategy along with technology discipline and/or multi-generation plans to support optimal capability of processes, procedures, and related IT solutions. Leads and participates in cross-functional teams to deliver technical, work process, and management system improvements within the MET applications as appropriate based on agreements.
The basis of this role is collaboration as a shared objective to define, deliver and support sustainable IT/OT solutions that provide optimal capability at minimal lifecycle cost to enable safe, reliable, quality, and productive Operations which support best-in-class employee and customer experiences.
Responsibilities –
- Primary Focal Point for electronic tools designated by OPEX and the Houston Hub Sites. Provides technical support, training, and guidance and assures effective and efficient implementation of Operations IT/OT MET systems, processes and tools across area of focus (i.e., in support of improvements to current functionality, plant start-ups, new implementations, etc.)
- Support implementation and use of Manage Production (MP), EH&S Applications, and mobile solution technology across the Houston Hub. Serves as a technical expert working across all Houston Hub sites to ensure technical expertise and guidance is in place related to system architecture, work process and related management system best practices within the area(s) of scope.
- Participates in and supports applicable end user and/or super user networks to strengthen collaboration and improve overall site/Hub Operations IT/OT performance and system effectiveness and efficiency.
- Assists in development, testing, and implementation of Operations IT/OT solutions (applications and tools) in support of business processes, work processes, and policies and procedures.
- Works with Work Process Leaders and other Functional Leaders and Site IT Tool Subject Matter Experts (SME's) on implementation and support of applications including electronic Safe Work Permits, Compliance Task Tool, Event & Action Tool, Behavior Based Observation Tools, Red Tag Master System Tools, Management of Change Tools, Document Management Systems, and other Operations Digital offerings.
- Partners with routine support teams and performs advanced support and troubleshooting activities for solutions and processes within area of focus. Supports life cycle management activities. Coordinates resolution of issues, escalating support needs appropriately.
- Monitors site and hub level performance measures related to system functionality, work process and application life cycle management and leads strategic gap closure activities and other opportunities for improvement. Proactively identifies potential risks and possible for mitigation.
- Supports improvement initiatives related to the area of focus, including tool enhancements, improved consistency across the Hub, training, document updates, metric updates, and other change management activities. Provide value case for enhancements to better support the associated work processes and improve productivity.
- Assesses impact of key learnings on the Operations IT/OT strategy and identifies opportunities for improvements to the overall MET solution to optimize adoption and utilization across sites, businesses, and function. Participate in piloting of applications including networked devices and pilots coming for the Digital Operations Center (DOC).
- Supports creation and management of job aids, training materials, and metrics related to IT applications and tools, system functionality, and related work processes.
- Conducts training related to area of scope. Supports leveraging of best practices and sharing of learning experiences across applicable networks. Escalates and utilizes network support to bring in diverse views and perspective to understand what is being done at other locations that could be leveraged.
- Supports large projects, turnarounds, and other activities, including data (unstructured and structured) identification/ cleansing/ transfer/ validation, testing, health checks, defect resolution, etc.
- Provides business process expertise and contracted support to on-site Joint Ventures, 3rd Party / i-Park clients based on established agreements.
- Ensures effective stakeholder management and change communications are provided to key stakeholders and sponsors for all initiatives within the area(s) of scope. Maintain priority in accordance with what has been established under OPEX and Site Leadership, and escalate changes or considerations throughout the year to ensure there is alignment and resource support.
Required Qualifications –
- A minimum of an associate degree or relevant military experience and three years of experience in manufacturing and/or I/S-related experience OR no advanced degree and five years of experience in manufacturing and/or I/S-related field.
- Experience with SAP.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate and resolve technical issues as they arise.
- Subject Matter Expert in Operate Plant Dashboard (OPD), Microsoft Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- High aptitude and working knowledge of computer hardware and software, networking practices and infrastructure.
- Strong technical skills to resolve issues between software, hardware, network, and supporting infrastructure.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Qualifications –
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at an E6 rank/Petty Officer 2nd Class or higher is required. In addition, a minimum of 8 years of manufacturing and/or I/S-related experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working with Dow Manage Production tools and Work Processes
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of Make Product Work Process and/or Global Maintenance Work Process.
- Experience with tools currently used in Operations such as OPD, SAP, Asset Hierarchy, CTT, eSWP, WebEDMS.
- Prioritize, plan, organize, and monitor multiple concurrent projects to meet established timing expectations.
- Update and troubleshoot using XML coding when necessary.
- Communicate, collaborate and work effectively with persons at all levels of the organization.
- Self-starter, strong initiative and leadership skills.
