Under minimal supervision and in compliance with company policy, manufacturing, and safety procedures and any applicable outside certification standards, the Design Engineer prepares layouts, component drawings, submittal drawings, BOM's, and schematics for sales order support as needed. Also improves existing products to maintain a competitive advantage in the pressure relief product market.
· Provide technical support via direct communication to sales, marketing and customers.
· Provide all necessary internal and external technical support for the complete range of Engineered products.
· Upon receipt of special product requirements in engineering, reviews product specifications to verify feasibility.
· Collaborate with peers to determine department goals and objectives and maintain all necessary Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) applicable product lines.
· Resolves any specification issues with sales group and customer prior to the start of engineering work and coordinate technical order information with sales.
· Prepare engineering design specifications and material requirements for non-standard products. Prepare layouts, component drawings, submittal drawings, BOM’s, and schematics for customer order support as needed. Upon completion, the BOM and all supporting documentation are returned for checking and approval.
· Use computer aided drafting skills and equipment, develops engineering drawings from sketches or markups provided.
· Good knowledge of BOM structure and change control processes.
· Enters, updates, and maintains data in document control system.
· Ensure proper upkeep and maintenance of revision controlled technical documents & product compliances like ASME, API, ISO, PED etc.
· Accountable for the development, coordination, and maintenance of the company’s engineering controlled documents as they relate to the designated product lines.
· Provides manufacturing prints for order requests from production.
· Transforms marked up product designs using computer-aided design (CAD) into detail drawings and/or solid models.
· Review’s engineering drawings to ensure adherence to established guidelines and standards.
· Performs other engineering functions related to the design such as creating document packages and processing Engineering Change Notices (ECN).
· Actively contribute to Lean activities (including but not limited to 5s Activities, Kaizen etc.)
· Ability to work independently, resolve technical and manufacturing issues without detailed direction, and work as part of a team
· Ability to work within strict deadlines
· Capability to work on multiple projects accurately and efficiently.
· Ability to proactively identify and resolve engineering and manufacturing related issues and have a thorough understanding of machine shop and foundry practice
· Conduct or provide detailed input for engineering testing of product including written test plans, DFMEA and final engineering reports.
· Possess an understanding of static linear FEA to determine compliance to published design codes and other applicable design standards.
· Basic knowledge of SolidWorks API programming and SQL.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Diploma/BE in Mechanical Engineering or other related discipline
· 1-4 years’ years of engineering experience in valve industry or similar field preferred
· Lean Six Sigma (added advantage)
TECHNICAL / FUNCTION SPECIFIC:
· Ability to read blueprints and good drafting skills
· Excellent knowledge of pressure vessel design, manufacturing processes including foundry, forging, machining and advanced techniques
· Advanced math skills
· Basic reading skills
· Effective verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to make the part, drawings, and assemblies in 3D software.
· Basic knowledge of materials engineering and manufacturing processes.
· Knowledge of valves design is preferred
· Working knowledge of computers sufficient to successfully use applicable company software systems, including Microsoft Windows, MS
· Office, SolidWorks, CAD programs and other modeling and engineering analyses software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Motor skills sufficient to successfully use a computer and operate basic manufacturing and laboratory equipment
· Ability to sit for extended periods of time as needed, up to 8 hours per day, though possibly more
· Frequently required to stand and/or walk, up to 8 hours per day, and make occasional trips from the office area to the manufacturing area
· Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment when in the manufacturing area, including, but not limited to, safety glasses and safety shoes
