Demonstrate strong clinical leadership when working clinically across the many areas of the department delivering excellent and high-quality patient care and supporting the shift leader in the management of patient flow and activity through the department. The areas of the department comprise.

5 bedded Resuscitation, 12 bedded Majors,5 cubicle space Rapid Assessment and Treatment area, GP Streaming area, 5 space Minors and walk in assessment area Paediatrics Decisions Unit, and 5 space Emergency Observation Unit.

Work collaboratively with other clinical colleagues to further reform the urgent and emergency care pathway.

Attend internal and external Stake Holder meetings as required.

Applications are invited for a Locum Specialist Trauma Surgeon to join our busy Trauma and Orthopaedic department, amongst a team of 24 Consultants for 12 months.

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is looking for a dynamic Locum Specialist Surgeon with specialist interest in trauma surgery. This is a locum 12 month Specialist Orthopaedic post attracting 10 PAs.

Elective surgery is carried out at Wycombe Hospital. There is a dedicated ward for elective orthopaedics in addition to a day surgery unit. The trauma service is based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The hospital has a designated Trauma Unit and provides acute surgical care to a population of 500,000. All trauma is centralised on the ‘hot site’ and this post will be working alongside a dedicated team of nurses, junior doctors, therapists and ortho-geriatricians to provide a first class, consultant led service. Two consultants manage the trauma service for a week rotating every 6 weeks, and this post will be working closely alongside a consultant colleague.

There is an excellent musculoskeletal radiology support with 24 hour CT scanning.

The Trust has the required arrangements in place to ensure that all surgeons have an annual appraisal with a trained appraiser and support surgeons going through the revalidation process. Further to this, the Trust offers a mentorship to all new consultants and the department would support the new consultant to identify an appropriate mentor.

We are looking to appoint 1 year fixed term Locum Consultant in Infectious Disease/Medical Microbiology at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire NHS Trust.

The post-holder will share in the provision of a first-class clinical microbiology service to the areas covered by the laboratory, along with the other Consultant Microbiologists: Dr Ruby Devi and Dr Karthiga Sithamparanathan.

The Department also has an ST3 Microbiology/Infectious Diseases trainee from the Oxford Thames Valley deanery rotation working Mon-Fri 9-5pm.

You will participate in a 1 in 4 weekly on call-rota with prospective cover. Category A on call supplement applies. Please note these posts are 10 PAs for each with a potential for 1 additional PA per post for lead infection prevention control doctor or antimicrobial stewardship lead.

On call is undertaken from home with remote access to the usual suite of applications, namely Winpath – the laboratory IT application for reviewing and authorising microbiology results.

The post is covered by the Terms and Conditions of the new Consultant Contract (England 2003).

The Trust requires the successful candidate to have and maintain full and specialist registration with a current licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC) and to fulfil the duties and responsibilities of a doctor as set down by the GMC.

The successful candidate will be required to live within 10 miles of ‘principal place of work’ at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, or 30 minutes travelling time when on call.

The appointee will be expected to cover for colleagues’ absence from duty on the basis of agreed arrangements in the department and with the employing Trust.

You will be one of 4 consultants working in a rota to provide clinical support to all hospital sites and local GPs. This includes supporting our OPAT team to manage patients in the community, including weekly virtual OPAT rounds -when covering OPAT, attending orthopaedic, Spinal Surgery, Spinal Injuries and Haematology MDT meetings and undertaking daily ICU ward rounds.

Clinical practice and liaison
• Provision of a comprehensive infection service. This includes direct clinical care and proactive liaison in a timely manner with consultant colleagues, other hospital staff, medical microbiology colleagues, Genito-Urinary Medicine (GUM) physicians and lead respiratory physicians for tuberculosis management, general practitioners, antibiotic pharmacists, IPC nurses, health protection consultants and CCDCs concerning the diagnosis and management of patients, and control and prevention of infection.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our busy and dynamic Children’s Emergency department as a Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM). This is a newly created post to lead and drive links between Paediatrics and ED. This post will work alongside an existing PEM consultant to provide high quality care to our Children's Emergency Department (ED).

The Children's ED receives approximately 17,000 patients per year and receives both GP & self referrals from across Buckinghamshire. We currently have 1 WTE PEM Consultants in post and work closely with our Adult ED colleagues.

In April 2023 we opened our new Children's ED which has been purposed built and provides care to the children and young people of Buckinghamshire. The unit contains 2 Paediatric Resus bays, individual rooms and a Children's Observation Unit.

Applicants should possess, or be within 6 months of receiving, a CCT in Emergency Medicine or Paediatrics with at least 6 months experience in paediatric emergency medicine. Equivalent clinical experience will also be considered.

There is scope for flexible working and we are keen to support a good work-life balance and Additional Programmed Activities. The current Consultants work a 10 PA job plan which includes 2.5 PAs for Supporting Professional Activities and 7.5 PA DCC. Weekend frequency is 1 in 6. On-call frequency is 1 in 12 weekdays and 1 in 12 weekends. Out of hours Pas are calculated at 3 hours per PA.

There is a post available for a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine with or without additional sessions in a related specialty at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of Intensivists and be involved with the re-development and expansion of a successful and thriving Critical Care Department.

The successful applicant will join the Critical Care team of 16 consultants. The Trust provides critical care services on two sites: Stoke Mandeville Hospital [12 beds] and Wycombe Hospital [6 funded beds, with infrastructure for 8 beds] and a Critical Care Outreach service at both Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe hospital sites, servicing a population of 0.5 million with 900 admissions across both sites annually.

Organisationally, the critical care department sits within the Anaesthetic and Critical Care Service Delivery Unit (SDU). The intensivists have anaesthetic or emergency medicine sessional commitments. The department would be able to accommodate consultants from other appropriate allied specialties within the Intensive Care Unit. There are also options available for a single-CCT intensivist with specifics depending on the interests of the applicant. Out-of-hours activity would be in Intensive Care for this post, with full participation in the ICU on-call rota.

Relocation Support would be considered as per the Trust’s policy.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and dedicated Intensive Care Consultant to join a team of intensivists within the department of Anaesthesia and Critical Care. The successful candidate will take part full-time in the Critical Care on-call rota at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Wycombe Hospitals. If the allied specialty is anaesthetics, there will typically be 2-4 anaesthetic sessions in the non-Critical Care weeks.
