• Manage multiple projects/ongoing work activities of moderate complexity within the department typically involving cross-functional representatives.

• Provide technical expertise support on site products, transfer projects, changes to manufacturing processes, changes to materials to support production.

• Hire, develop and maintain the technical skill set capability in the team to enable future process tech transfers and multi-product operations. 

• Provide leadership and line management to the team, coordinating and overseeing their workloads, providing support to ensure that the team delivers effective and efficient services. 

• Ensure work flexibly with Technical Service Leadership Team to deliver key new product introductions and move resources and optimize work practices to ensure that all Technical Service objectives across the site are achieved. 

• Complete facility fit assessments in support of process transfers and facility design. 

• Develop and maintain mass balances and process flow diagrams (PFDs) for new processes. 

• Assist in the development of the Bill of Materials (BOM) and Sampling Plan for new processes. 

• Support the introduction ofnew materials and review Supplier Change Notifications (SCN) as required. 

• Conduct regular one-on-one mentoring/training sessions on operations, individual development plan (IDP) and performance reviews.

• Manage the performance of direct reports through goal setting, ongoing assessment and coaching. 

• Support the development of talent and capabilities of your team members and seek out training & development assignments for individuals who are capable of advancing to other positions. 

• Support all Rochester Leadership Team activities and drive improvements across the site as well as enhance site culture.

Qualifications

Must-Have

• Set strategic direction at the site and build a culture of EHS/BCM excellence.

• Functions as member of the Site Leadership Team providing direction and leadership for the site.

• Leads the EHS and BCM programs at the site to:

  • minimize impact of operations on the environment,

• Ensures mechanisms are established to identify and manage EHS regulatory requirements that apply to site operations including preparation of impact assessments, permit applications, registrations, and certifications; preparation and review of routine and special reports; and oversight of routine inspections.  Acts as the primary point of EHS contact for external / regulatory bodies.

• Ensures implementation and maintenance of EHS/BCM management systems that meet contemporary external and Pfizer internal EHS standards and enhance and continuously improve the program at the site.

• Establishes and maintains self-assessment systems that periodically evaluate the effectiveness of the site EHS/BCM management systems.

• Partners with the site leadership in establishing short and long term EHS/BCM objectives for the site, to ensure safety and minimization of environmental footprint.  Establishes site EHS/BCM metrics, drives action plans and regularly publishes status updates.

• Collaboratively equips the site leadership team in establishing and maintaining an effective operating environment that facilitates EHS cultural growth.

• Integrates EHS risk assessment within business operations thereby assuring all initiatives at the site are conducted in a safe manner and in full compliance with all applicable regulating bodies or Global EHS standards.

• Manages the site EHS budget.

• Ensures all EHS/BCM functions are adequately resourced and managed to maintain compliance with all applicable Company policies and government regulations and to meet contemporary standards. 

• Develops and enhances the EHS team through effective organizational design, selection, development, training, and performance management of all colleagues. 

• Ensures delivery of in-sourced and outsourced EHS services at the site, including selection and management of properly licensed waste firms.

• Partners with Engineering to develop and drive Environmental Sustainability plans, including waste, water and Greenhouse Gas reduction roadmaps for the site.

• Ensures effective processes are established to ensure EHS review of capital projects; such that risk reduction controls are included within the design and project execution.

• Develops relationships with above site stakeholders including Global EHS, BCM, Global Colleague Wellness and EHS professionals within the Pfizer Community of Practice (COP), to ensure program alignment and leverage network resources.

• Leads Crisis Management Team when events arise.

Qualifications

Must-have

• Applicant must have 10 years of relevant experience; OR an Associate's degree with 8 years of experience; OR a Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of experience; OR a Master’s degree with more than 3 years of experience; OR a Ph.D. with 0-2 years of experience.

ROLE SUMMARY

As a member of our Oncology team, you will play a critical role in supporting Translational Science Operations strategies through scientific technical oversight and management of external and internal partners involved in the implementation of clinical trial biomarkers sample analyses.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide biomarker bioanalytical assay technical and operational expertise to Study Teams to ensure delivery of high-quality clinical biomarker data.

• Lead novel assay development and timely availability of fit-for-purpose oncology clinical biomarker assays to clinical Study Teams. Troubleshoot/resolve complex technical/logistical issues at vendors. Evaluate complex data critically, i.e., evaluates aberrant results, data trends and guide team in broader interpretation of data.

• Function as key point of contact with external commercial or academic clinical laboratories, as well as internal clinical labs, with oversight responsibilities for agreements, work plans, budget and invoices, assay transfer, assay validation, sample analyses, data transfers and overall data quality.

• Lead and provide technical support for selection, qualification, and periodic audits of CRO laboratories supporting clinical trial biomarker assays.
