Works closely with medical officers to assure the following: (1) medical certifications are only issued to medically qualified airmen, (2) ATCS/ATCS Applicant physical exams meet program requirements, (3) an appropriate number of qualified physicians are selected, designated and trained as AMEs to conduct FAA medical examinations of civil airmen, (4) AME site visits and quality assurance reviews are conducted and (5) All phases of the Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing program, including pre-employments/pre-appointment, random, follow-up, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident testing are coordinated. Conducts analysis in the review and evaluation of program activities. These analyses are conducted to ensure proper program integration and conformance to policy, completeness, and adequacy of operation in meeting goals and objectives. Prepares recommendations based on such reviews and discusses recommended courses of action with program managers to resolve major program areas. Reviews and analyzes draft polices and manual chapters and provides feedback to the appropriate individual. FV-F DUTIES:

Performs basic but progressively more difficult assignments and applies knowledge applicable to programs with the Aerospace Medicine Division to plan and accomplish assignments. Acts as a member of a team within a defined area of responsibly. Typical assignments include collecting and recording data/information; conducting research; identifying problems; and assisting higher-level professionals in day-to-day operations of regional programs.

Established policies/procedures provide detailed guidance for almost all assignments, with little or no room for discretion. Works under instructions provided by a manager, project/program manager, team leader or more experienced professional. Refers problems and work issues to a manager, project/program manager, team leader or more experienced professional for guidance.

Work is reviewed regularly during assignments and at completion to ensure timeliness and all aspects of quality. Work activities typically support the work of other employees and contribute to activities of the organizational level.

FV-G DUTIES:

Performs a combination of routine, multiple and varying assignments under the general direction of the manager, project/program manager, team leader or more experienced professional. Acts as an individual contributor and/or member of a team for project/programs within a defined area of responsibility.

Applies experience and detailed knowledge applicable to programs within the Aerospace Medicine Division to plan and accomplish assignments. Typical assignments may include: collecting and analyzing data/information; conducting research; applying policies and procedures; identifying problems; and working with higher-level and lower-level professionals in day-to-day operations in one or more regional programs.

Established policies/procedures provide guidance for most assignments but allow some discretion to select the most appropriate approach.

Work is typically reviewed frequently during assignments and at completion to ensure timeliness policy compliance and alignment with the requirements of the project or other work activity. The primary purpose of these positions is to perform Project Work related to historic and non-historic Park Trails and Structures repair, maintenance, renew, and restore. Performing these trails laboring duties will require moderately heavy physical effort requiring the use of common hand tools and power equipment and will involve any or all of the following duties:

• Operate vehicles (up to 10,000 pounds) to transport personnel, materials, or equipment.
• Operate heavy power equipment such as chainsaws, leaf blowers, brush cutters, brush chippers and all types of hand and light power tools.
• Perform trail work including maintenance/repair/rehab of bridges, tread surfaces, rock walls, drainage control, etc.
• Cut trees, performs heavy vegetation management and cleans erosion control structures on wilderness and non-wilderness trails using axe, chainsaws, crosscut saws, power weeders, loppers, brush cutters, picks, mcleods, etc.
• Hike 8-10 miles daily into the backcountry while carrying loaded packs and gear to perform trail maintenance and rehabilitation work.

The purpose of this position is to serve as a Small Shop Chief (SSC) with the responsibility for the overall shop. The position oversees and directs the work of one or more employees who perform work in the Aircraft Survival Flight Equipment Repairer, WG-4818-10 occupation who are assigned to the shop. The incumbent performs the full range of non-supervisory journey level work of the shop.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the incumbent and lower graded worker(s).

Utilizes knowledge and skills of the journey level as well as those required to plan, accomplish, and maintain a functional shop maintenance program.

Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures such as how and when the work should be accomplished. Estimates manpower, equipment, and material requirements.

Devises and maintains all program plans and records, performs surveillance and troubleshooting, and determines maintenance/repair procedures to be utilized.

Plans, organizes, and directs shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision.

Determines approaches, methods, and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner.

Provides recommendations and input to the supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position description changes, disciplinary actions, leave, etc.

Performs the full range of journey level work of the shop.

The primary purpose of this position is: To perform aircraft structural maintenance and support equipment repair for tasks associated with the planning, laying out, fabricating, modifying, repairing, assembling, corrosion control, specialized coatings, advanced composites, tubing, and installing sheet metal parts, items, and assemblies and to provide training to reservists in the accomplishment of tasks herein.

Responsibilities:
1: IAW technical data and standards: Plans and lays out work from engineering data, blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders in the repair, coating, or manufacture of aircraft structural components and support equipment.

2: IAW technical data and standards: Develops patterns, molds, cuts, forms, joins, assembles, and installs items and systems which have combined straight and curved edges or irregular curves, angles, and planes.

3: Operates, cleans, maintains, and accounts for all hand, power tools and equipment, such as slip roll forming machines, box and pan brakes, beading and tubing machines to fabricate and repair items. Utilizes safety practices, Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and AF Environmental Compliance Assessment Management Program (ECAMP) environmental protection practices and procedures and complies with security regulations, directives and policies.

4: Inspects, prepares aircraft and support equipment surfaces and applies a variety of chemical compounds, protective and specialized coatings to a variety of materials, such as sheet metal, radomes, and composites then correctly disposes of hazardous waste products.

5: Repairs, modifies, and manufactures fiberglass, bonded honeycomb, and composite/metal structural components that have contours that must be reestablished or that require the manufacture of a mold using the available part or pattern. Prepares effective training plans to maximize Reserve training.

Aviation Safety Inspectors in this specialty (Rotorcraft - Helicopter) apply knowledge and skills typically acquired as airmen (pilots, navigators, flight instructors, etc) to develop and administer regulations and safety standards pertaining to the operation of rotorcraft.

The Aviation Safety Inspector performs a variety of tasks associated with technical administration, certification, and surveillance. The selectee serves as a developmental performing duties as assigned without authority for actions or decisions and will be required to complete initial new hire training to include formal and on-the-job training up to 24 months.

The Aviation Safety Inspector (Rotorcraft-Helicopter) is responsible for the performance of assigned technical administration, certification, and surveillance duties and assures that aviation organizations and airmen comply with regulatory requirements and reports deficiencies to the principal inspector or supervisor.

The selectee will be required to participate in the flight program as an aircrew member and, as such, must meet the medical and flight currency requirements as set forth in agency orders governing the operation of aircraft.
