The Aviation Safety Inspector is assigned to the Operations Branch of the Air Transportation Division, Office of Safety Standards within Flight Standards Service. The incumbent is responsible for applying expert knowledge of and experience with Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) for the development and implementation of standards, programs, and procedures for FAA field personnel and the public governing all matters related to Air Carrier Operations safety issues.

Serves as an Aviation Safety Inspector responsible for reviewing and evaluating, on a continuing basis, established rules and regulations related to assigned technical programs to assure that they have kept pace with the needs to which they were directed and that they are still reasonable, necessary, and adequate. Evaluates regulatory petitions or proposals from within or outside the agency, and recommends the development of new or amended rules, regulations, or other regulatory material, and the discontinuance of rules and regulations no longer considered necessary.

Responsible for the preparation of Federal Register notices regarding assigned technical programs for original petitions for exemptions and analysis of technical input from other employees within Flight Standards. Also, the incumbent coordinates with other Aviation Safety and Flight Standards Organizations to develop a complete analysis and appropriate response. Since exemptions are rulemaking documents, this review may include coordination with the Office of General Counsel so that the denial, grant or disposition of petition for rulemaking will withstand a legal challenge. Technical inputs must be reviewed for completeness and respond to all aspects of an exemption petition.

Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of division policy in assigned programs areas to include evaluation and analysis. Develops policies, including advisory circulars, inspector guidelines, and training standards related to certification, inspection, surveillance and operation of assigned program areas. Reviews and evaluates, on a continuing basis, established rules and regulations to assure they have kept pace with needs to which they were directed and that they are still reasonable, necessary, and adequate. Assures effective coordination of assigned programs and activities with Safety Assurance offices, other organizational segments of the Division, the Agency and organizations outside of the agency.

Participates in national and international working groups and panels with other organization elements of the agency, or other government agencies, and International Civil. Aviation Organization (ICAO) and industry representatives for the purpose of resolving complex and controversial problems having a direct influence on the safety of assigned technical programs operations, facilities, and equipment. Conducts or participates in group or team meetings which include representatives of other government agencies, the aviation industry, aviation organizations, state, municipal and foreign governments where assigned programs and responsibilities are involved. Develops operational policies, including advisory circulars, inspector guidelines, and training standards, and other applicable standards in support of assigned programs. Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of division policy in assigned program areas.

The Inspector often engages with internal and external stakeholders to promote safety, understanding, and compliance related to assigned programs. Represents the agency as a technical trainer/instructor delivering formal training for assigned technical programs.

Provides technical support and conducts research for internal stakeholders related to a variety of issues.

• You will be proficient in cost and pricing techniques, source selection procedures, and has a firm understanding of the various types of pricing mechanics used.
• You will function as an individual proficient in the understanding of oversight processes, including th eProcurement Performance Management Assessment Program process (PPMAP).

Salary Information: The salary range for Dallas, TX (DAL - Dallas Love Field) is $42,995 to $60,002 or $20.60 to $28.75 per hour and includes locality pay of 26.91%.

This Transportation Security Officer position is located in Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Transportation Security Officer (TSOs) within Security Operations (SO), you will provide security and protection of air travelers, airports and aircraft in a courteous and professional manner. Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Operating various screening equipment and technology to identify dangerous objects in baggage, cargo and on passengers, and preventing those objects from being transported onto aircraft.
• Performing searches and screening, which may include physical interaction with passengers (e.g., pat-downs, search of property, etc.), conducting bag searches and lifting/carrying bags, bins, and property weighing up to 50lbs.
• Controlling terminal entry and exit points.
• Interacting with the public, giving directions and responding to inquiries.

In this Materials Handler (Motor Vehicle Operator) position, you will perform a full range of warehouse duties that include receiving, unloading, storing, shipping, and maintaining equipment and supplies stored at FEMA Distribution Centers in support of federal disaster operations.

Typical assignments include:

• Driving trucks up to 26,000 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Driving trucks up to 32,000 lbs. (tractor-trailer) on a limited basis.
• Performing a full range of warehouse duties, and receives, unloads, stores, ships, and maintains equipment and supplies.
• Assisting in the efficient storage and arrangement of materials, following Agency procedures and regulations.

• Transportation workload forecasting, appointment and admissions scheduling, reviews documents for omissions and inconsistencies, enters information into automated tracking system.

This Supervisory Transportation Security Officer position is located at Waco Regional Airport (ACT), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Supervisory Transportation Security Officer (STSO), you will be responsible for mitigating actual and potential threats against civil aviation and other transportation modes. You will also perform and supervise in your area of specialty, which may include Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) and Lead Transportation Security Officers (LTSOs) in the performance of all security functions related to the screening of people, property, and cargo through the use and application of procedures, techniques, and technology. In addition, you will make independent, security-based decisions using intelligence, critical thinking, experience, observation, and passenger engagement.
