The Director, Supply Chain Design and Execution – Medical Distribution will report to the VP, Supply Chain Flow and Strategy – Medical Distribution. This position leads the Supply Chain Design and Execution team; focused on ensuring our distribution network can support future growth while driving best-in-class service at an optimal cost across the U.S. Medical supply chain. With approximately $1 Billion in U.S. supply chain costs, this individual will partner with Operations and Commercial teams and use data-driven analysis, strategic thinking, initiative ideation & prioritization, and project management skills to identify current supply chain capacity and capability gaps and deploy solutions to improve end-to-end flow of product through the supply chain. This individual must have experience driving end-to-end solutions and managing analytical teams in one or more critical supply chain functions (e.g., transportation, distribution, replenishment, network design, Capital planning, deployment, etc.). Ideal candidate will also have experience across different industries, allowing him/her to draw upon and implement best practices. Must be a detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to lead multiple strategic projects as well as a team of highly talented Data Scientists, Business Analysts, and Project Managers.
Key duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to: developing short and long range distribution network design strategy, capital planning and deployment, service level improvement, velocity / cycle time improvement, supplier and customer JPIs, cost optimization, and KPI/metric development. Must possess excellent communication skills to effectively interact with multiple levels and functions within the broader organization. Periodic travel in support of project implementation and customer visits may be required.

Accountabilities
- Provides thought leadership, informs supply chain strategy, and leads network design and capital deployment functions
- Identifies and removes friction points throughout the Medical supply chain, while driving new capabilities that allow for over-achievement of customer expectations and business objectives
- Design end-to-end supply chain product flow concepts that, where applicable, leverage the broader Cardinal Health volume, systems, scale, and partnerships, while providing the Medical Segment with consistently higher levels of service
- Multi-echelon capacity and throughput planning that optimizes service level and cost, given building capacities, product availability, labor/staffing schedule, transportation, customer delivery schedules, etc.
- Works to identify and unlock capacity and throughput constraints across the supply chain through short-term projects/initiatives and medium-term investments
- Leads 3-5 year capacity, capability, and capital strategy planning and deployment – ensuring Medical distribution can meet future demand, with optimized efficiencies across the value chain
- Present recommendations to address capability gaps and various supply chain constraints that will impact supply chain execution – developing and coordinating mitigation / resolution steps
- Leverages LEAN/Six Sigma concepts to reduce process waste and drives end-to-end cost reductions and process efficiencies
- Champions innovation, simplification, and standardization of current solution offerings, operating procedures, methodologies, and processes
Qualifications
- 12-15 years of proven supply chain experience across multiple industries and functions preferred
- 5-7 years of experience leading both analytical and operations teams preferred
- Experience leading development of large scale, 3-5 year strategy – communicating across key stakeholders and gaining buy-in
- LEAN/Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred
- Working knowledge of Llamasoft suite of modeling tools preferred
- Ability to navigate a matrixed work environment, partnering with stakeholders across various functions to deliver operational and financial commitments
- Strong project and change management skills in order to manage multiple projects and resources in a remote, dynamic and highly changing environment
- Excellent communications and presentation skills while interacting with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
- Travel expectations: 25%
Anticipated salary range: $132,600 - $205,000
