We are seeking an experienced science professional who will provide a comprehensive efficient and effective range of technical support to meet the needs of the department. This will include preparation and maintenance of resources, ordering of supplies and supporting both staff and students in the classroom. You will need to be enthusiastic, flexible and confident in supporting practical work to A level. You may be required to work across all science departments, but specific departmental training will be provided where appropriate.

The Co-Centre brings together an academic team from 17 research institutions across all 3 jurisdictions. The vision of the Co-Centre is to develop innovative and transformative solutions to transition our food systems to become more resilient and sustainable through a multi and interdisciplinary programme of basic and applied research. The Co-Centre research is structured as Platforms, demonstrator projects and spokes which include targeted projects which are funded wholly or in part by industry. A platform dedicated to Nutrition and Health will provide evidence-based data to encourage the development, acceptance, and uptake of healthy diets from sustainable sources (HDSS) across all population groups.

This role will support Professor Louise Dye to conduct a programme of research within this platform which seeks to understand and ensure equitable access to breakfast provision and intake in children and adolescents across the Island of Ireland. This research will support the transition to HDSS and address micronutrient deficiencies.

At the Department of Physiology Anatomy & Genetics (DPAG) we undertake discovery science where we reassemble physiological processes at the molecular, cellular, tissue and systems level of organisation. In so doing we provide a bridge to translational medicine, and interface between physical and life sciences. Overview of the Role: We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join Dr. Becky Carlyle's lab as part of a collaborative project led by Professor Paul Harrison (Oxford Psychiatry). The project involves partnerships with Professor Carol Robinson (Oxford Chemistry), Dr. Thomas Hyde (Lieber Institute for Brain Development), and Professor Gary Stephens (Reading Pharmacology). The ideal candidate will have experience with membrane protein enrichment and preparation for mass-spectrometry analysis. A key focus will be developing assays to detect and quantify calcium channel conformations and interactomes, contributing to research on psychiatric disease mechanisms within a vibrant, international team. This is a 3-year position, available immediately.

Key Responsibilities:
Optimize cellular and molecular approaches for membrane protein enrichment
Develop and implement mass-spectrometry assays for protein analysis
Manage academic research and related administrative tasks
Refine scientific techniques and protocols, testing and analysing hypotheses
Collaborate on scientific reports, journal articles, and presentations
Operate specialist lab equipment and advise colleagues on protocols
Represent the research group at meetings and seminars
Selection Criteria:
PhD/DPhil in bioscience (or near completion)

We are currently seeking an experienced Floor Finisher & Concrete Polisher to join our team in a full-time position. The successful candidate will be responsible for the finishing and polishing of concrete flooring on various construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in floor finishing, epoxy work, and concrete polishing, along with a passion for delivering high-quality, precise work.

Key Responsibilities:
- Finish and polish concrete floors to a high standard, ensuring smooth, durable surfaces.
- Apply epoxy coatings and other surface treatments as required.
- Interpret plans and blueprints to ensure accurate execution of flooring specifications.
- Operate floor grinding and polishing machinery and other related equipment.
- Ensure proper surface preparation before applying finishes or polish.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Collaborate with the construction team to meet project deadlines.


Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in floor finishing and concrete polishing.
- Proficient in epoxy application and various concrete polishing techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints.
- Experience with hand and power tools used in concrete finishing and polishing.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to floor finishing and polishing.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality, precise finishes.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual labour for extended periods.
- A valid driver’s licence.
