This post is central to the successful delivery of major new research trials. Screening and recruitment of patients diagnosed with psychosis and patients at ultra high risk pf psychosis. This will involve speaking to referrers regularly, attending clinical team meetings, visiting community mental health teams, hospital wards, as well as home based treatment teams. There will be monthly recruitment targets for all studies. The post-holder will be joining a team of research assistants to help meet these targets. Completing eligibility screening assessments and seeking informed consent from patients. Carrying out the assessments for the trials. The trial patients will be assessed on a range of measures at a number pf time points for each study. You will need to arrange these interviews and administer clinical interviews, assessment tasks, and self-report questionnaires. Participants will be seen in clinic settings or at home across a large geographical area. Patients are seen in multiple NHS trusts including: Oxford Health, Northamptonshire Healthcare, Berkshire Healthcare, and Central Northwest London (Milton Keynes). Although some assessments may take place remotely, it is likely there will be extensive travel which would be facilitated by having valid driving licence, and access to own or other independent means of transport. Assessments will be carried out blind (i.e. you should not know which condition the patients have been randomised to). You will need to remind staff and patients not to tell you the allocation. And you will need to report if you have become unblinded. It will be crucial to maintain very high follow-up rates for the trial participants, meaning you will need excellent engagement skills. Good record-keeping will be needed, including updating medical records with trial progress and managing recruitment databases. You will need to follow standard operational procedures for the trial and NHS Trust policy regarding safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children. You will need to produce regular reports on the recruitment process and assessments. Brief clinical reports will need to be written based on the trial assessments. We have an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join our fantastic group of scientists here at the Division of Structural Biology, Nuffield Department of Medicine. You will be working in Professor Jones at the Division of Structural Biology, working closely to gain insight into molecular mechanism for cell surface signalling assemblies. Research projects are typically highly interdisciplinary, aiming to integrate in vitro biophysical measurements, high resolution x-ray crystallographic analyses, electron cryo microscopy (cryoEM), and cell-based studies (functional assays, advanced light microscopy and cryoET).

As the Postdoctoral Research Scientist, you will be responsible for managing your own academic research activities. This involves small scale project management to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work and meet deadlines. You will be tasked with testing hypotheses and analysing scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate. You will act as a source of information and advice to other members of the group on scientific protocols and experimental techniques.

It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in a relevant subject (e.g. Structural Biology, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Cell biology) along with experience in X-ray crystallography and/or cryoEM/cryoET, preferably of glycoproteins and membrane proteins. You will have experience in production of samples for structure/function studies and in biophysical and cell-based assays. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Scientist in Immunopeptidomics to join our research programme based at the Oxford Centre for Immuno-Oncology in the Nuffield Department of Medicine.

The research programme is dedicated to unravelling the molecular architecture of immune responses in tumour tissues. In this role, your primary objective will involve profiling the immunopeptidomes of individual patients using LC-MS/MS techniques and to map the tumour-antigen landscape across large patient cohorts.

The key responsibilities of this role include managing the LC-MS facility to ensure operational instrumentation and support for specialized Immunopeptidomics applications. You will, lead the generation of proteomic and Immunopeptidomics datasets from cells and primary mammalian tissue samples using LC-MS/MS platforms, providing high-quality data to academic partners and industrial sponsors, Additionally, you will manage your own academic research and administrative activities co-ordinating multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.

It is essential that you hold a relevant PhD/DPhil in Biochemistry, Immunology or a related subject with post-qualification research experience. The postholder will undertake the full range of duties within the section, assisting in the provision of highly specialised service. They will provide technical support for Quality Assurance programmes for a wide range of diagnostic radiology imaging, ultrasound and phototherapy equipment. They will develop procedures in supporting these services contributing service development and quality improvement.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 6 Clinical Technologist (Healthcare Science Practitioner) within the Imaging Physics and Radiation Protection group. You will work alongside a team of Scientists and Technologists to provide technical and scientific support delivering radiation assurance services across to several NHS Trusts.

Candidates for this post will have a degree in Physical Sciences or in a subject with a significant Physics component and have completed or are about to complete the PTP programme or have equivalent level of knowledge and experience to enable registration with The RCT. Experience of working within Imaging Physics is essential. Candidates with experience in the field which are not yet registered could be appointed at a lower band until registration.

The section is responsible for implementing ‘cradle to grave’ QA programmes on all modalities of radiological equipment, ultrasound, lasers, and UV systems. This includes assistance with equipment specification and selection, acceptance testing and commissioning, establishment of an ongoing QC programme, providing training for radiographers as necessary, and ultimately advising when equipment is no longer suitable for clinical use. The section monitors radiation doses to patients and staff, performs environmental monitoring (including radon) and specifies shielding requirements for x-ray and optical radiation facilities. It also provides radiation dose estimates for research trial submissions and radiation incidents. It leads the Trust’s internal audit programme for regulatory compliance.
