The Data Science Director will be a member of VCA Data Science team in Asia Pacific and will report to the Head of Data Science overseeing the IPVMC cluster. The position will be based in Visa’s Singapore office.

The individual will be accountable for leading the design, development and implementation of analytics-driven strategies as well as high-impact solutions for Visa clients. About the role:

In this role you will advise, influence, and make recommendations to senior management, working creatively to sustain and support the continual development of the health and safety strategy, culture, policy and governance.

Responsible for leading, managing and delivering a professional health and safety support team to ensure that health and safety arrangements and related elements of WSI operations are implemented to achieve not just compliance but good practices in all areas of the Institute.

Responsibilities of the role:

• Be responsible, in partnership with the WSI Chief Operating Officer, for formulation, promotion and the sustained development of the WSI health and safety strategy. To provide a management system for compliance with relevant health and safety statutory provisions and related disciplines.

• Alongside the senior health and safety advisers drive the implementation and be the change agent who leads continual improvement of the health and safety strategy, advising, coaching and influencing Directors, senior managers and team leaders as necessary to enable them to deliver agreed objectives.

• To work with the Director of Estates so that health and safety compliance is incorporated and assured in the design, construction or demolition, occupancy, servicing, maintenance and operation of the WSI infrastructure.  Work collaboratively with embedded contractor organisations to ensure effective control of risks created by their work activities.

• To lead, direct, motivate and support the staff of the WSI Health & Safety team in the delivery of high quality pragmatic advice and support functions, facilitating compliance with relevant health and safety provisions and related disciplines through the implementation of the health and safety strategy and health and safety management system.

• To undertake the recruitment, retention, performance management and development of the WSI Health and Safety team, to ensure the acquisition and maintenance of the appropriate skills and competences to deliver the WSI health and safety strategy. Work with the team leads to support the continuing professional development of the WSI health and safety team.

• To cooperate and communicate effectively on health and safety matters with the Wellcome Genome Campus landlord company and other tenant entities

• To manage communication with enforcing authorities e.g. Health & Safety Executive, Fire Authority, Environment Agency and Police Counter Terrorism and Security Team on issues relating to health and safety and related fields to ensure the Institute is represented appropriately and communication is informed and authoritative.

• To engage with and participate in relevant and appropriate networks in the health and safety and related professional communities to acquire and exchange knowledge of best practice and contribute to its development.  Provide benchmark data to the executive boards of the WSI for performance comparison.

Essentials Skills Required:

• Educated to degree level in an appropriate scientific discipline

• NEBOSH Diploma or acceptable equivalent (including at higher level)

Job Description

• Implements/enhances state-of-the-art quality and reliability systems/programs to support R&D objectives relating to instruments (excluding software).

• Reviews/critiques product designs, proposed processes, and testing regimens ensuring a rigorous focus on reliability, quality, and compliance throughout NPI.

• Leads NPI teams in identifying and executing key pre-verification characterization testing and other activities necessary for continuous product improvement and robustness enhancement.

• Provides technical expertise in challenging design for reliability and serviceability of products in development.  

• Capable of planning, performing, and documenting hands-on testing to evaluate DfR objectives (example: HALT testing, automated life tests, accelerated aging, vibration/shock, drop/abuse, PCBA stress screening, and environmental testing).

• Ensures timely completion of testing with continuous feedback to development team for ongoing design enhancements.

• Uses analytical skills in statistical analysis, tolerancing/simulation, measurement science, stress testing, reliability assessment, simulation, and design critique as appropriate to support NPI DfR objectives.

• Works with technical transfer functions to ensure timely corrective actions of design, assembly, supplier, or other production issues encountered during NPI.

• Proven knowledge in mechanical, electrical, or optical design principles. This person must be able to critique designs for their manufacturability and identify reliability concerns.

• Proven project management experience in a cross-functional environment (e.g. multi-site, technical development, other functions).

• MS and ASQ Certifications in Quality Engineering and Reliability Engineering strongly preferred.

The Baby-LINC Singapore Lab (https://blogs.ntu.edu.sg/baby-linc/) is looking for a talented Research Assistant to contribute toward research studies on child development and parent-child interactions. Projects include clinical studies on children of parents with mental disorders such as depression and anxiety, as well as infants at-risk for neurodevelopmental disorders.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Perform participant recruitment, data collection and basic data analysis

• Design and validate novel affective cognition tasks for infants. Data collected will include the simultaneous collection from parent and infant of multiple data streams including EEG, ECG, eye-tracking, motion tracking, video and audio data, whilst they are engaged in a variety of social interactive and cognitive tasks

• Assist with data coding of video and audio data for behavioural analysis of parent-infant social interaction and synchrony

• Assist with graduate and undergraduate research student projects

• Provide other administrative and research support to the PI where necessary

Job Requirements: 

• A good Bachelor’s degree (at least second-upper) in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Sciences or related Technical and Computational fields
