Are you passionate about inclusion and diversity? Are you highly organised with experience of overseeing projects?
About us
The Science Museum Group's (SMG) mission is to Inspire Futures. Central to inspiring the next generation of scientists, inventors, and engineers is our work towards a society where all people feel that science is "for them" and where we all have opportunities to access the social and economic benefits it brings.
One of our core values is to be 'Open for All'. This is considered in everything we do, from our collections and programming, the visitor experience at each of our museums, our workforce and culture and how we recruit new talent into the business.
To support our People & Culture team to deliver the workforce element of Open for All, we are now seeking a Work Opportunities Lead to oversee the delivery of our existing early-talent programmes for a fixed-term period of 9 months, contractually based at any of our Museums in London, Manchester, York or Bradford.
About the role
As Work Opportunities Lead, you will focus on early careers (internships, Early Careers Development programme) and skills development opportunities. You will help to ensure that we offer a range of equitable access points into our workforce by closely managing existing project plans, ensuring milestones are met and successes are monitored and reported on. You will ensure participants get the most out of the programmes; are supported to learn, grow and develop.
About you
Due to the nature of the work delivered, you will bring an understanding and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion to the role. You will have experience of promoting inclusion and diversity in practice either professionally, or personally. As a highly organised individual, you will have been involved in delivering projects within timescales and to brief. You will be able to build positive working relationships with a range of people, including senior leaders, people managers, and members of the early careers programme (i.e. candidates, interns). You will also be able to liaise effectively with specialists across People and Culture to support the delivery of the programmes, including delegating work where appropriate.
Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
