We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Curriculum Leader for Science to join our fantastic team atCHS South. The successful candidate must be passionate about their subject and determined to impart knowledge, skills and understanding to all of our students, whilst exciting and engaging them in their learning.

This is a full-time, permanent role, with an MPS/UPS salary which also attracts a TLR2.3, with a value of £7,847.

Main purpose of the job:

This is a middle management post. In addition to those professional responsibilities which are common to all classroom teachers in the school, the post holder’s key responsibilities will be for supporting the Curriculum Leader in raising the standards of teaching, learning and student achievement in the subject area for all students.

The post holder will also deputise for the Curriculum Leader when necessary and will take responsibility for areas of departmental work as agreed with the Curriculum Leader and Senior Leader.

The post holder will be expected to match the characteristics described in the DfE Teaching Standards and will be required to exercise his/her professional skills and judgement to carry out, in a collaborative manner, the professional duties set out below.

Research Manager

The General Medical Council are currently looking for a Research Manager to work in our Data, Research and Insight Hub, the Research Manager will be responsible for developing, managing and ensuring the delivery of key individual research projects as part of the GMC's research programme. Delivered by a small team of research managers, the research programme provides the GMC with crucial intelligence and insight to inform our policy development and decision-making. We do not fund or undertake medical research and you don't need previous medical experience.

Summary of the role

• Although the majority of the research programme is commissioned, a significant minority of projects are undertaken in-house and research managers will be expected to deliver both types of project.
• We are not looking for advanced expertise in particular methods, but rather for sound general knowledge and experience of a range of research methods.
• Research managers will work closely with policy colleagues across the GMC to understand their research needs.
• The role will also require close working with a range of other GMC staff, including colleagues involved in procurement, information governance, data management and communications as well as external research contractors.
• You will be required to attend our Manchester office one day per week, (our designated office day is currently Tuesdays) and travel to other GMC sites maybe required from time to time

We are seeking to recruit a highly experienced and organised Research Grants Manager to join our busy Research Grants team at the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), located at the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford.

This exciting position combines line management responsibilities for a small team alongside directly managing a portfolio of research groups. The postholder will be required to act as a financial guide, providing professional and flexible financial management to research groups, to support the achievement of the department’s strategic objectives. The post provides a crucial role in the running of the Botnar Institute, liaising between Botnar academics, University Professional Services teams and external grant funders.

You will work closely with colleagues within the Institute, departmental colleagues and Research Accounts throughout the lifecycle of grants; ensuring all eligible costs have been added to each grant and confirming total spend to allow accurate reporting to the funder. You will provide timely, regular and accurate reports and detailed analysis on the research funding portfolio, and associated risks, to the Principal Investigators and senior management, so that they have a sound financial evidence base to assess how best to utilise their grant budgets. You will liaise with external sponsors, collaborating Universities and other University of Oxford Departments on grant award management.

You will be educated to a degree level or equivalent qualification. You will have a sound and in-depth knowledge of grant funders and post-award management together with ability to create, analyse and understand financial data. You will be a highly organised and accurate with ability to work well as a member of close-knit team and independently. Experience of using online grant application forms and working knowledge of X5, Oracle Financials and PeopleXD are desirable.

This is a full-time maternity leave cover appointment for 12 months. This post is available from 1 December 2024.

Audience Research and Advocacy is part of Science Museum Group's (SMG) Communications department. About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to manage the team across SMG, in close collaboration with the Audience Research Manager based in the South, to aid SMG's mission to inspire futures. As Audience Research Manager you will apply your knowledge and experience of audience research to develop and deliver an engaging and inspiring offer for all audiences, supporting SMG's 'Open for All' policy.

You will manage the team, planning and co-ordinating strategic audience research and evaluation. You will use a 'science capital' approach in all your work to encourage equitable focused practice and ensure a broader people feel more at home with science.

In this role you will manage budgets and foster relationships with stakeholders, including commissioning and managing work by external research contractors so that high-quality and actionable findings are delivered to project teams on time and within budget.

About you
Joining us you will have experience of people management, with the ability to manage, influence, motivate and coach team members. You will be a good communicator with the ability to develop relationships, advocate for your work and influence senior stakeholders.

You will be able to manage budgets and projects successfully from conception to delivery, with effective planning and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and coordinate multiple projects to meet conflicting deadlines.

Crucially, you will have experience planning complex audience research projects, using audience research methodologies, in addition to experience working with people from a range of potential museum visitor groups e.g. families, adults, community groups, education groups, visitors with additional needs.

Meet with the administrative, operational, clinical and consultant colleagues regularly to ensure efficient management of the trials running, providing support and advice on logistical issues. Oversee and be responsible for full cost recovery from the delivery of hosted trials in particular for commercial trials during the national contract value review process and local costing stage. Understand and utilise costing methodology for non-commercial trials (AcoRD). Be the named group archivist for all trial related documentation. Have oversight of the coordination of safety review for all trials within the portfolio and ensure systems meet sponsor and regulatory requirements. People management and leadership Line manage the administrative and operational team of the research unit, providing expertise and guidance (trial coordinators and trial administrators). Be responsible for the co-ordination of annual and all other leave for research staff ensuring minimal disruption to the service provided by this team to patients and the wider Clinical Research Directorate. The Trial Manager recruited for this post will work on the Bipolar At Risk Trial II (BART II) funded via the Efficacy and Mechanism Evaluation Program within the NIHR. The trial manager will coordinate a multifunctional team consisting of site leads and research assistants at 5 UK sites, clinician(s), statistician(s), and service user reference group members in the project management of this trial. This will include, but is not limited to, study oversight including regulatory approvals, ongoing study management, and closeout and reporting. Working with experienced clinical trial support service staff, the post holder will ensure that the clinical trial is conducted to the relevant clinical trial regulations. In addition, the trial manager will have line management and training responsibilities for the research assistants. The role requires a research professional who has experience in clinical trials, particularly in mental health. Your new role

• You'll be a core member of the R&D and Clinical Development Team, working closely with Senior Leadership to execute the team's strategy within budget and timelines.
• Your role includes program managing the Development Teams and associated activities, ensuring active life cycle management to maximise product value and intellectual property.
• You'll create, maintain, and monitor integrated strategic and operational product plans, facilitate meetings, and track progress across projects.
• Additionally, you'll provide project management support for R&D activities, liaise with Program Management, and contribute to portfolio methodology.

Other key responsibilities will include:

• Drive cross-functional collaboration: You'll work across functional boundaries to evaluate product opportunities, develop integrated strategic plans, and ensure alignment with objectives.
• Manage R&D projects: You'll coordinate and track R&D deliverables, monitor project performance, and provide regular reporting. Additionally, you'll act as the primary liaison between teams.
• PMO: You'll support product planning, maintain templates, and contribute to portfolio and program management methodology.
• External alliances and project management: You may participate in committees, alliance management, and implement corporate or functional area projects as needed.

What you'll need to succeed
As well as very strong communication and organisational skills, you should have:

• A track record of leading projects focused around at least one of: late stage / preclinical R&D, clinical studies, CMC, late stage development/commercialisation of drug candidates within the pharmaceutical, biotech or CRO industry
• A BSc (or equivalent experience) within a life sciences or business discipline, ec biology, chemistry, etc
• Excellent understanding of project and programme management principles, eg from having previously defined these for a business
• Experience in designing and implementing integrated product development and portfolio management processes
• The ability to work well within a cross-functional team framework and be highly delivery focused

Previous exposure to immunology projects is an advantage, but is not necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

The role of an Actuarial Reporting Manager is of great importance within AXA UK and requires someone with the ability to work well with key stakeholders and ensure key project timescales for completion of finance reporting to be met. As an Actuarial Reporting Manager, within the actuarial workstream you’ll be a leader in delivery of the actuarial aspects of the AXA UK IFRS17 and SII actuarial reporting requirements. About the role
You will play a key role in supporting the growth of our major gifts programme, focusing on strategic engagement with individuals that have the capacity to make 5- and 6-figure donations.

You will be responsible for identifying, developing and delivering compelling proposals, whilst stewarding a portfolio of existing major donors. Spending time building relationships with philanthropists, you will meet with them to discuss our work as well as approach new contacts and finding way to engage new people with our ambitions.

You might spend some of your day writing proposals and reports on projects being undertaken, to be sent to donors and prospects.
