The Senior Technician position requires your talent and technical expertise to diagnose drivability and electrical systems, while using your leadership and mentoring skills in driving a team toward increased customer care and satisfaction.

• Diagnose and repair to specifications.
• Brake and hydraulic, exhaust, primary and/or advanced fuel ignition and electrical, suspension and alignment, air conditioning and computer systems.

Performing regular checks, carrying out repairs and, when needed, contact engineers or service agents. You will be confident in doing fire, basic electrical and appliance checks. As the home’s Maintenance Person, you’ll be a valuable member of their friendly, close-knit team, promoting the well-being of the residents and the successful running of the home.

Your new role
Reporting to the IT Manager, you will be responsible for providing a high level of IT support to both pupils and staff, ensuring that the IT needs of the school are fully met and that an excellent service is provided at all times. This support will be provided for hardware, software and also network support, working closely with the IT Manager and therefore allowing you to further develop your skills. Individual duties will include the installation, maintenance and resolution of issues on the above, handling all incoming service requests from staff and pupils, setting up of Audio-Visual equipment at school, assisting with printer troubleshooting and working closely with staff and pupils training on the use of any specific education technologies. As part of this role, you will also support the IT Manager with any ongoing projects across the school, therefore allowing you to learn new technologies and processes. This is a full-time vacancy which will be all year round.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in securing this position, you must possess IT Technician experience, ideally working on either a service or help-desk recently. Experience working in the education sector would also be beneficial, as well as knowledge of both Active Directory and Office 365.
What you'll get in return
In return, you will be paid a salary of between £23,000 and £24,000 dependent on experience and will receive significant training, allowing you to further develop your own IT knowledge and skills. You will receive 26 days holiday plus bank, rising to 31 after 5 years, as well as receiving a local government pension scheme.

Your new role
As Senior IT Technician/Senior IT Engineer, you will be responsible for providing a high level of technical support and knowledge to the wider organisation, supporting both pupils and staff. This will involve the management and maintenance of all hardware & software, working closely with the Network Manager who is based remotely, but visiting the site once or twice a week to ensure the smooth running and maintenance of the school network. On a daily basis, you will handle service requests on site, providing 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support, resolving issues efficiently and also working with other engineers to upskill. This role will also involve supporting with training from a technical perspective, also taking a lead on any IT projects being rolled out in school. As this is a senior role, you will also have responsibility for the mentoring of more junior IT technicians based on site. What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, you must have recent IT Technician/Engineer experience ideally specifically in the Education sector, whether this be working in a school, college or wider multi-academy trust. You will have previously provided 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support in a reactive environment, ideally also having a basic knowledge of networking.
