The role involves carrying out cleaning tasks at public conveniences. Our service is demand-led which means you will have to be able to assess what needs doing at each job and prioritise tasks that pose potential risks, dealing with these first and then carrying out the remainder of the cleaning tasks in an organised/systematic/methodical way.

In addition to daily activities, you may be required to carry out specialist cleaning tasks, such as steaming, jet-washing and buffing. Cleaning experience would be an advantage but not essential, as full training will be given. You will be required to carry out internal and external cleaning throughout the year working in all weathers.

You need to be flexible in where you work, including moving around different teams and housing areas, sometimes at short notice, in order to allow us to effectively run our service. The JMSC works internationally - with states and with key international organisations - to support information sharing, relationship development and capacity building efforts.

The key elements of JMSC are:

The National Maritime Information Centre (NMIC), which since 2010 has provided a mechanism for the UK’s civilian and military maritime and law enforcement focused organisations to fuse intelligence, data and capabilities. This maximises operational impact at home and abroad.
The Joint Maritime Operations Coordination Centre, which utilises cutting edge technology to provide 24/7 monitoring of UK waters. It can swiftly identify maritime security incidents and enable the effective coordination of the UK’s aerial and at-sea assets to respond – ensuring the safety and security of all those who use our seas.
The new JMSC Assessment capability, which will produce global strategic maritime security assessments to inform UK government and other stakeholders of threats within or emanating from the maritime domain. This also provides support to the UK sanctions regimes.
These functions are supported by the JMSC Strategy team, which includes workforce planning, programme management, financial planning and controls, and policy development.
Job description
The Joint Maritime Security Centre (JMSC) Strategy and Policy (Strat Pol) team form the core enabling function within the JMSC, providing critical services to the operational elements of the organisation.

JMSC Strat Pol is formed of three distinct sub teams:

Policy and Business Resilience (P&BR) – this team manages the business support functions for the JMSC including recruitment, the secretariat function for meetings, updates to the Risk Register and ensuring the resilience of the JMSC.
Security and Data Compliance (S&DC) – this team assures and manages the security of the JMSC and its personnel. It is comprised of Information Managers who assure data compliance and adherence to the Data Protection Act and STRAPSOs who manage access to systems.
Project Management Office and Finance (PMO&F) - this team manages various programmes of activity to increase the capability of the JMSC systems and the growth of the JMSC to full operating capacity. The team also includes Commercial and Finance, with responsibility for purchasing everything from stationery and desks to innovative technology and ensuring that Home Office policies are complied with.
The Business Resilience Lead will be accountable to the Policy and Engagement Manager within the Policy and Business Resilience team. You will be responsible for managing one direct report. You will be responsible for ensuring that the JMSC has a coherent business resilience plan by leading on the business risk register, infrastructure plan and people plans, working closely with the MOD Business Manager and wider JMSC team. You will be responsible for one direct report.

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

Ownership of the JMSC Business Continuity and Resilience function within the organisation, including premises, technology, risk management, resource planning and business resilience communications & exercising, working closely with the Ministry of Defence (MOD) Business Manager.

Providing secretariat support to all elements of the JMSC, except for meetings chaired by the Head of JMSC. You will need to develop a good working relationship with the Staff Officer to the Head of JMSC to ensure there is no duplication or gaps.
Procurement of stationery, equipment, and general facilities oversight, working closely with the MOD Business Manager.
Leading on the administration of JMSC recruitment, through the entirety of the process, and coordinate wider personnel matters.

As a Senior Analyst you will work under the direction of the Assistant Director (Assessment) to

deliver global maritime security threat analysis and understanding, in accordance with JMSC strategic and operational priorities; or
analysis and understanding relating to Russian activity to avoid sanctions, in accordance with HMT, DfT and JMSC strategic and operational priorities.
This work is at the cutting-edge of delivering cross-government maritime security threat assessments in support of delivering the JMSC Mandate. It offers an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative intelligence community and participate in developing and delivering Government-facing, consolidated maritime security threat understanding. You will be able to collate and cohere threat understanding from across the national and international intelligence communities, fusing it into authoritative assessments to inform decision-making at all levels. The primary output supports the NMSC(O) in delivering the UK’s National Strategy for Maritime Security.

We have three roles available, one of which is permanent and two of which are fixed term for a period of two years in order to complete a finite piece of work. Please indicate in your Statement of Suitability which of these appointment terms you would prefer (see Selection Process details below for more information).

Successful candidates will be given a choice of appointment term in merit order. Should the first candidate in merit order opt for permanent appointments, the second and third candidates in merit order will only be offered a fixed term appointment. If they indicated a preference for permanent appointment only in their application, they will be placed on a reserve list and could be offered the same role on a permanent basis should further vacancies arise within 12 months. If they decline having indicated in their application they would accept a fixed term appointment, their application will be withdrawn. The Joint Maritime Security Centre (JMSC) is the UK government’s centre of excellence for maritime security. Its mission is to increase awareness and understanding of maritime security threats and enable cross-government coordination to deliver a whole-system response to mitigate them.

The Joint Maritime Security Centre (JMSC) Strategy and Policy (Strat Pol) team form the core enabling function within the JMSC, providing critical services to the Operational elements of the organisation. JMSC Strat Pol is formed of three distinct sub teams:

Policy and Business Resilience (P&BR)
Security and Data Compliance (S&DC)
Project Management Office and Finance (PMO&F)
The Deputy STRAPSO is part of the Security and Data Compliance team and will work to the JMSC STRAPSO. You will be responsible for researching security incidents, managing the JMSC SharePoint and supporting the STRAPSO with the above secret systems access.

As a Higher Analyst you will work under the direction of a Lead Analyst to deliver either:

global maritime security threat analysis and understanding, in accordance with JMSC strategic and operational priorities; or

This work is at the cutting-edge of delivering cross-government maritime security threat assessments in support of delivering the JMSC Mandate. Job description
The Joint Maritime Security Centre (JMSC) Operations Team is the operational delivery team of the JSMC and delivers maritime domain awareness and understanding as well as providing support to maritime operations.

The purpose of the Planner is to deliver both a planning role and general contribution within the JMSC Operations (Ops) environment, reporting to the Deputy Lead Planner. The Planner works as part of the JMSC Ops team that coordinates the cross-government response to maritime security incidents.

In addition to the planning function there is also a need to identify and provide awareness of emerging priorities to which JMSC Ops can contribute. The planning function includes organising and delivering multi-agency live and tabletop activities along with the maintenance of a national exercising calendar.
